*SAMPLE SALE* Bottega Veneta

The Bottega Veneta sample sale is back! Fellow Mizhattanites who attended last year's event will remember that everything from woven leather handbags to RTW to shoes and accessories were available in spades. FYI, I'm told this year will be no different. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention how amazing the discounts were. Prices started as low as $25 for sunglasses, $100 for shoes, $250 for bags, and $50 for RTW. Now that I've laid out how great next week's sale potentially could be, I need to add one sour note. Although the sale is touted as a private affair, last year's event quietly opened to the general public. This time, my contact has let me know the golden opportunity that once was, may not be a guarantee. So let's just pray history repeats itself.

UPDATE: Bottega Veneta has kindly asked us to remove the information until a later time. This article will be updated when appropriate. Stay tuned!

UPDATE 2: The sale will open to the public starting at 11am on Wednesday. Yay!

Where: Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St. (bet. 6th & 7th Ave.)

When: Wednesday, July 30th, 9am~11am (invite-only)

    3. Miz wrote "remove the information until a later time" so maybe its a timing issue. We can mull over this until the cows come home and it wouldn't matter. The answer we need is will the sale open to us plebs and when.

  7. Miz, can you ask your connects at Racked to make the proper edits as well until we know for sure? If it is indeed a pseudo-private sale, publicizing it as a public sale doesn't exactly increase our chances of it becoming public.

Wondering if its worth the risk crashing today. Do they check names or just invites? My friend got an invite but can't go and was gonna pass it along to me but she's not sure if they would be checking IDs.

    3. I wasn't asked for ID but they do check names. Some people were turned away while I was waiting to get in.

  19. Never seen Bottega's sale this busy or strict. Last year, they were more lax on the bag limit (2 per person, 2 SLGs). Prices better as well. They seem to have increased on strictness because of the publicity. I highly appreciate you putting up the info for the public, Miz, but I think next year it might be better until Bottega officially lets the public know about the sale. The sale got so much press this year, so they anticipated a huge turnout (which happened), thus the strict limit. This sale traditionally doesn't have a large stock, thus the quieter announcements. Only making the suggestion because the news appears to have broken on this site. Racked then reposted, not even bothering to honor Bottega's request to redact the info (thank you, Miz, for doing so), and then the domino effect. I think most people would benefit from a quieter release. Last year's sale had no lines on the first public day, and I walked away with 2 bags, including one classic Bottega woven bag. There was also plenty of leftover wovens, lower prices, and TONS of woven wallets. This happened at 4pm. This year, the sale sold out of bags and wallets within 20 minutes of the opening.

And yes, wallets reappeared this year on Wednesday, only to be hoarded by the 5 team Korean women that came for VIP 20 minutes before the public sale opened (Not being racist. I speak Korean so that's how I knew). One was the mother of a worker so she got an invite, but she then brought her 4 friends. As the posters mentioned above, they checked out, checked in their bags at coat check, and then went back to buy more wallets and bags. I definitely understand you want to bring more people to help maximize your purchase amount, but checking out and then coming back in 2 minutes later to buy more, totally not cool. The security and staff saw this and allowed them to do this. On top of all things, the wallets seemed to be held for these 5 women, because they were not there for VIP the day before as Miz reported. They were the highly in demand long bifolds in limited edition colors. The one I remembered most was the red long bifold and it was priced at $200. Hoping Bottega sees this post and takes proper action against the worker who invited them.
