*SAMPLE SALE* Check Out those Mellons!

How are my fellow Mizhattanites coping with this post Labor Day back-to-work week? For me, there's nothing like a good bargain to pep me up and revitalize myself for the fall sample sale season. Thanks to Tamara Mellon, I did just that. Her one year old eponymous label is joining the NYC sample sale scene with its first-ever bargain blowout and I stopped by their F&F portion late this afternoon. There's so much to gush about this sale, so let's begin!

Being the brain behind Jimmy Choo, Tamara Mellon knows a thing or two about making a girl look sexy and glamorous. At today's F&F, I saw many of this burgeoning brand's va-va-voom merchandise at insanely low prices. Since sexy stilettos are Tamara's area of expertise, why don't we start from there?

The shoe section was situated on the left side of the venue and it was comprised of various sandals, pumps, booties, peep toes, and boots. My MizAdvice is for everyone to make a beeline toward this section as soon as you enter. With sandals and pumps priced as low as $50(!), this is where the good stuff is at. I expect fierce competition amongst shoe-loving shoppers tomorrow. To delve into details, and please try not to fall out of your seat, Tamara Mellon's leather legging boots were $150 (originally $1,995), thigh-high boots were $75 (originally $1,350), and booties were $55 (originally $750 & up). As for designs, I found Whisper sandals, Bad Girl sandals, Addiction pumps, Fatale sandals, French Kiss booties, Rebel booties, and more.

The RTW section was filled with Tamara Mellon's signature day-to-dark styles. There were lots of glamorous details like punky grommets, Western-inspired fringes, glittery lamés, and tons of leopard prints to drool over. Prices in the RTW section were as amazing as the shoes. Dresses were $50, tops were $50, bottoms were $40, coats & jackets were $100, furs were $250, and cashmeres were $75. The label may not be a mainstream brand yet but you have to admit these prices are simply too good to be true.

Finally, I checked out the handbag section on my way out and found a nice variety of totes, satchels, and clutches on display. TM Love totes were available in black studded leather, zebra print, maroon, and cream (21st & 22nd photo below). You should probably know that at Net-A-Porter these TM Love totes are currently selling at full price. At today's sale, the exact same designs were only $100! In addition to TM Love bags, I spotted a few different styles of clutches such as Attraction in silver and gold. They were $50 (online price $1,295).

If you're worried about inventory selling out too quickly because of these crazy prices, you'll be happy to know the merchandise will be replenished throughout the sale's duration. It's been quite some time since I've been to a really good sample sale and this week's Tamara Mellon event truly satisfied my shopping needs. It's comforting to know that there are still bargain opportunities like this around. Whether you like the brand or not, this sale is a definite not-to-be-missed event. Thanks to today's preview, I now have the perfect pair of sandals to wear to NYFW.

  3. I just went and the bargains are pretty fantastic. You could totally pick up a fall wardrobe here (heels, boots, dress, blouse, skirt) for btw $300-$400. These prices are better than Zara. I was a little disappointed in the bags though.

  10. This was like a sample sale from the good old days. I couldn't believe the prices......$10 sample shoes!......I love being a size 37 :) The leathers were a great bargain too, picked up a couple of skirts and a jumpsuit for more than 90% off. Sadly there were no flats or heels shorter than 90mm but there were some real treasures in the RTW sections. Also worth noting that most dresses were tailored for taller girls, if you're petite like me it's a bit tougher to find a good fit. All in all it was an amazing sale. Thank you so much Miz for keeping us in the loop!

  11. Anyone go before closing today? Is it worth popping in tmrw morning? I'm a 9/40 in a shoe and I can't believe I missed this!!! Anything left in my size?

  12. I went in around 4:30 PM (straight from a conference with my luggage and all) It was SO worth it! I really wanted to buy it all but am currently penny pinching.

Still walked away from incredible metallic gold pumps, calf hair pumps (love the contrasting leather heels) in black and white AND perforated suede bootie (This is a bootie but they priced it as "Boots" and won't budge)

There were plenty of sizes left for most styles. (I saw a bunch of leggings boots as well) so go ASAP!!! I wish I can go get couple more pairs!

Only thing I didn't like was that since it is a sale where you need the sales associates to get your size, I wish they were a bit more friendlier or at least a bit more helpful.

Happy shopping everyone!! Thanks for the amazing review too! :)

  15. The best sale I've been to in a while. Six items for 350$. And the most expensive item was a nicely tailored blazer that cost a hundred bucks. Thank you so much mizhattan. I don't comment but trust me I check your blog countless times a day. You're amazing

  16. I'm back in NY and I am sooo headed over tmw afternoon. Think they will restock the pumps? *fingers crossed* I don't ever usually go after a few days as I feel the goods are gone, first time I'll head 3 days in! Hopefully worth it? :/

  17. Thanks for the review, Miz. Precise, detailed and helpful as usual. What color of the Whisper sandals did you end up getting? I got two pairs of pumps (gold and the blue snakeskin) and the black suede perforated booties. I'm so happy with my purchases! Although I was a little annoyed that they priced those booties at $75, when all the other ones, include the open toe version of the same shoe (5th picture), is clearly marked $55.

  18. No restocking today - very limited selection as a lot of the stock has been sold. But this was a wonderful sale - especially the first day. I think I brought a dozen things and saved over $25K off retail.

The pricing is a little random though. I went with a friend and for the same items we were charged different prices.

I was charged $50 for the attraction bag when my friend was charged $100 and I was charged $75 for a bootie but my friend was charged $55 for the same pair.

We didn't check out together so we didn't catch it but thought that was funny when we did.

    1. Hmm... That's weird. You should definitely go back if you were overcharged. See what they can do.

    2. Awe Miz. This is why I only comment on your site. Your little touches and attention make yours so welcoming.

That's ok though. The prices were so low already a few bucks less or more is totally fine.

Thank you for the follow up though!

  19. I went back today with a friend and we watched as a man came in and bought a giant pile of the shoes. There must have been about 75-100 pairs and the staff was bulk wrapping them in plastic. This happened around noon. It was astounding and per the staff, it was the second time. Guess we'll be seeing those online somewhere.

  20. Any restocking or markdowns for the last day?

  21. Thanks so much for this post and keeping us informed! It was a great sample sale. Just hate the people that are buying huge amounts just to resell so we are left with less options for ourselves.

  22. Anybody went there today? Is there any restocking or markdowns? Thanks

  23. nope, nada! just got back. not worth going. barely anything left and all of it kind of trashy looking.

  24. Thanks for the info!!
