*SAMPLE SALE* Wang For Your Buck

It may be below freezing outside but inside today's Alexander Wang VIP/Press preview the atmosphere was sizzling with discounted deals and shopping commotion. 2014 is nearing an end and the year just isn't complete without a big Wang deal. So I made my way to the sale earlier this afternoon to preview and browse the brand's sale offerings. Want the best Wang for your buck? You just might at this sale.

New York's prince of downtown darkness, Alexander Wang, has built a cult following for his grunge-cool style mantra and I think it's safe to say that today's preview was filled with the designer's signature off-duty looks with a hint of sporty spin. First off, my MizAdvice for when you enter the sale tomorrow is to make sure you hit the handbag section pronto (located on the right towards the back) as it is always the hottest spot at any Alexander Wang sale. This year, you won't be disappointed as Rocco bags and Rockies dominate the handbag section. Roccos were available in pastels, metallics, brown, gray, red, cream, as well as inside out styles. As for Rockies, there were pastels, red, salmon pink, forest green, metallics, and many more. Other designs included Diego bucket bags in baby blue, forest green, pale pink, and red. In addition, there were Brenda camera bags in metallic blue, black, leopard, nude, and red. And listen to this, prices were lower than at last year's sale. YAY!! Clutches were $200, small bags were $250, medium bags were $300, and large bags were $350.

Shoes were situated in the rear and there were Lovisa pumps, Manuel mary jane pumps, Antonia sandals, Raquel sandals, Malgosia sandals, Kira sandals, and buckled oxfords. Shoes were also cheaper this year with everything priced at $150.

Now, onto Ready to Wear. For women, low end prices included $120 tops while the high end included $450 leather styles (speaking of leathers, there were tons of jackets, skirts, and pants to choose from). In between these price points, I found sweaters for $130, dresses for $160, blazers for $160, and coats for $225. Merchandise from Alexander Wang's lower priced diffusion line, T by Alexander Wang, was also available at this event and was comprised of sweatshirts, T-shirts, cardigans, dresses, skirts, pants, and outerwear. I also want to mention that there was a very small communal changing area at the back of the venue with only four full length mirrors available for shoppers so expect lots of elbowing and shoving if you choose to use them.

The men's selection was not as abundant compared to the women's offerings but I spotted sweaters, cotton shirts, casual tees, shorts, jackets, and leathers discounted generously. For male shoppers, prices included $110 shirts, $120 pants & shorts, $130 sweaters, $200 jackets & coats, and $400 leathers.

Though tomorrow's rain and snow storm may deter some shoppers from attending, you'll most likely need to deal with the usual Alexander Wang mayhem especially when handbags were so very good this year in terms of pricing and selection. I expect the queue to form early so dress appropriately and have fun!

    1. As of 4:30pm, there's barely a line, probably due to the nasty weather. If you decide to go, this is probably the best time. The selection is still abundant.

  4. Is there still a big selection of rocco/rockies?

They don't have many shoes left. Sizes are limited, too.

    3. Yea, it's limited 3 bags. Fortunately, I went with my sis. We got five in total, plus the black brenda bag. I think it is the last one.

  7. This is a long shot, but if anyone got a pink or salmon rockie they'd like to trade for an inside out rocco in "gunpowder" (a kind of metallic gray), please email me at raikny(at)gmail.com.

  9. I went this morning and was one of the first people inside. No black bags out on the floor and when I asked the salespeople they gave conflicting answers - One woman said black sold out yesterday and another woman said they'd put more out later. Anyone know if there will be any more black rockies? Thx!

    1. Yeah, it is. I went today around 2:30 pm. Still a few Rockies left. There are Salmon pink (2~3), baby pink( 4~5), light blue (only one), metallic mint or green (only one), red (only one). There are a few Roccos, in white or vanilla. No black, no royal blue. I really feel lucky I went on the 1st day and got one Rockie in royal blue.

    1. I went during lunch and when I arrived at 11:25 am, there was nobody. Yesterday night, around 6:45pm when I left, there was a post-work crowd maybe 20 deep. They are restocking colors for bags, which is why I came again today during lunch.

    2. what colors did they have?

  11. I went after work yesterday. Got there around 6:10pm. There was a decent size line in front of me. Waited about 25-30 minutes to get inside. There were lots of T by Wang left in all sizes, but everything else in men's was kind of all picked out. And When I left at 7pm there was still (even longer) a big line outside. So I'd say if you want to go after work, try leave work early and beat the rush of afterwork crowd.

  12. I went today at 7:30pm, was one of the last group of people to go in. No cell phone were allowed so no picture taking. I did not look at the clothing section, just handbags and shoes.

Shoe selection very limited as. Not much is left. As for the handbags, there are still several colors to select from, but stock is limited. I saw the bright red, tan, pale yellow, pink (salmon), forest green, maybe one to two more baby green/blue color, and a dark gray (gunmetal) but it was the inside out rocco. I asked if they had anymore gray or black colored ones. They keep telling me NO. I asked several people if they will re-stock the bags for tomorrow, they also said NO. They also had rockies left over, but mainly bright red, metallic blue, salmon pink, and maybe white? Price for rocco is actually 300 and price for rockies 250. It was a great sale.

  16. I went there this afternoon around 5, no lines. They didn't redece the price. But there were lots of rockies and roccos left, in red, salmon pink, pastel pink colors. Shoes were almost gone.

  17. Sorry I missed it, didn't know it ended yesterday. Really wanted a Rockie. Did they reduce the bags? Mizhattan
