*SAMPLE SALE* Kooples Therapy

Less than a year since the opening of their first New York City store, young Parisian label The Kooples is jumping on the bargain bandwagon with their inaugural sample sale. The brand is best known for recreating Hedi Slimane's rock & roll aesthetics for Saint Laurent (sans the grunge, of course) but at much lower price points. During today's F&F preview, I was able to scope out the label's must-have womenswear, menswear, bags, shoes, and accessories. For style seekers, I guess Kooples therapy is the ultimate retail therapy.

The hip French label The Kooples couldn't have found a better place to host their first-ever stateside sample sale at the SoHo space on Wooster St. The sale ambiance inside the early evening preview was bustling with fashion-conscious ladies and gents who were eagerly looking for bargains. I, for one, didn't want to waste a minute so I headed straight for the women's apparel.

The blazer section grabbed my attention right away. From sleek tuxedo-inspired jackets to exotic animal prints and textured blazers, there were various styles to choose from. Dresses, skirts, blouses, t-shirts & tanks, outerwear, and trousers were also very well stocked with prices ranging from $45 to $295. To delve into details, t-shirts were $45, mini skirts were $60, shorts were $60, shirts were $70, pants were $80, knits were $85, dresses were $125, jackets were $195, coats were $225, and leather jackets were $295. As for sizes, depending on the item, they were available in 34 to 40 and XS to L.

Shoes for both genders were displayed on tables in the back of the room. All footwear was $125 and the selection included studded pumps, plaid flats, rounded-toe booties, python-embossed loafers, and buckled sandals for female shoppers. For men, the selection consisted of sneakers, suede ankle boots, and silver lace-ups (22nd photo below).

Menswear was located in the front of the space and consisted predominantly of suit jackets and office shirts. Shirts were priced $80 while jackets were $225. As far as other men's merchandise, I spotted t-shirts for $45, shorts for $55, vests for $65, pants for $95, and coats for $225.

Over in the accessories area, I found various styles of belts for $55, hats for $75, scarves for $55, and a limited selection of handbags for $45 & $150.

Although markdowns weren't as rock bottom as I hoped they would be, if you fancy adding an edgy Parisian vibe into your style regime, this week's The Kooples sample sale may be worth dropping by. As for restocking, one of the staff politely informed me that the inventory will be replenished throughout the duration of the sale. No word yet on additional markdowns but I will keep you posted.

    1. I completely agree! The stuff at the sale is very Zara quality, which I could get for half the price or less.

  4. Just heard they received new inventory but no word yet on extra discounts. Considering this is a 7 day long sale (counting VIP) the price points are very disappointing. Hautelook had a flash sale today with blazers for $149 which is better than this although still pricy.
Does anyone know how much stock they sold? I suppose if it's selling so well they don't have to slash prices.
