*SAMPLE SALE* Choo-se Me

Just in time for out-and-about spring and summer, Jimmy Choo returned to the NYC sample sale scene. This morning, I arrived at the brand's spring bargain event with great anticipation (partly because of last year's awesome discounts) and found the queue outside to be more than 80 shoppers long. After checking in with a company employee (the F&F portion started at 10:30am), I went straight upstairs where mountains of Jimmy Choo shoes, handbags, and accessories were marked down and ready to greet discount-adoring shoppers. So, is everyone ready to go for a little shoe scavenger hunt? Well then, follow me!

The first good news to report is that the folks at Jimmy Choo graciously decide to open today's F&F to non-invitees. A little after 10am, the staff created two separate lines: one for invitees and another for the general public. The second good news is that prices haven't gone up at all when compared to their last sale in November. Basic pumps and sandals were still $200, catwalk styles were $250, bejeweled styles were $325, and boots were $375.

As for the selection, sizes were available from 34-42.5 for women and inventory included everything from patent nude pumps to embellished evening sandals and vibrant summer sandals to good old Jimmy Choo x Hunter Wellington boots. Each size had a dedicated table where mounds of shoes were placed on top and below. I found sizes 35-40 to have plenty of merchandise while the extra small sizes of 34 and 34.5 to be lacking.

Now that the good news is out of the way, let me nitpick a bit. While rummaging through piles of Jimmy Choo shoes, I noticed some of the stock was from prior season sample sales. In addition, there were quite of few pairs that showed signs of wear with scratches and scuffs noticeably visible. Therefore, my MizAdvice as always is that you keep an keen eye out for such damages before you head to the checkout counter.

Men's shoes were laid out on top of and under center tables and sizes were available from 43 to 46. I spotted penny loafers, slip-on sneakers, smoking slippers, driving shoes, ankle leather boots, and lace-up Oxfords in the men's area and everything was priced either $250 or $375.

Handbags and SLGs (wallets, keychains, iPhone/iPad cases, and leather bracelets) were displayed on tables near the entrance. Prices on bags started at $250 for small sized styles and went to $350 for mediums and $450 for large totes. In addition, evening clutches were marked down to $350 and exotic skins were an additional $200 on top of whichever size you pick. SLGs were very well priced with everything discounted to $75.

There was also a large assortment of leather belts and scarves up for grabs at this sample sale. Belts were $50 while scarves were $75.

This year's Jimmy Choo spring sample sale ends tomorrow at 4pm. If you haven't dropped by this morning and are thinking of doing so later this afternoon, expect a long wait to get inside. The line stretched to well over 200 shoppers when I last checked.

  1. As always great report and amazing pics, Miz!

I was a little disappointed by the selection but then again I've shopped their sales for years and have something to compare it to but for newcomers it was great. Saw many first timers loading up on shoes and accessories :)

I know you must be inundated with this by now but any word on Manolo? So much conflicting info out there.

    1. Hi Nara,

Thank you for your sweet words but I should be the one thanking you for keeping your fellow Mizhattanites and I updated with your comments. I get what you mean.

This sale doesn't offer the rock bottom prices as they used to have but, if you dig through the piles, there are still bargains to be found for newcomers and veteran alike.

As for Manolo, an article with the confirmed dates will be up soon.

Looking forward to Manolo article but I take it there's no need need to be at the Warwick at 7am tomorrow ;)

    1. I'm not sure which bag you are referring to but the price list is in the article.

    2. My best guess is you're asking about the Justines. Last year they had way too much stock of it--hundreds and hundreds of them, I am not exaggerating, so on the second day they marked them to $150, including exotic skin versions. This year, however, it doesn't look as though they had anywhere as much stock, so I don't know if they will be marked down as much.

    3. They ended up marking the Justines to $150 at around 2:30 today.

  3. wow. these are still high prices. I got a stunning pair of Nicholas Kirkwoods for 220 at the last sale. And I mean stunning. Just doesn't compare in workmanship to the choos.

  6. Have never been to Jimmy Choo sample sale, but have been to other shoe designers, and I am appalled at the way the shoes are just thrown all over the floor. Would think you were at a sale for Payless not Jimmy Choo..
The shoes I got last month from the Roger Vivier and Charlotte Olympia sample sale were in boxes and were in perfect shape.
For the prices they are charging should not be thrown around like garbage.

    1. Miz, I know this is your blog and not mine, so I apologize to you for speaking out here, but I have to say I find comments like this quite rude. You put so much time and energy into writing great reviews, taking pictures, keep us up to date...and a commenter can't be bothered to look up an address you clearly posted?? And then leaves a short, snippy comment like this, with no please and thank you? That seems really entitled and rude.

Stella, if you want the address, click "Jimmy Choo" under the sales listed on the sidebar. It's very clearly stated.

  9. Just got out of the sample sale. Not many styles on small sizes (5, 6, 7) left. Most of the small sizes are defect products with wears and tears. Still some 8 and above left. No price reduction so far.

Overall, I am quite disappointed at the sale. Not that many styles and the shoes (and some bags) look old and worn. Maybe all the good stuffs have been picked out on the first day.

    1. Nope it was bad last morning as well. Sadly this year's selection was the worst I've seen since I started shopping their sample sales 4-5 years ago. There were a few really nice pieces sprinkled in but majority was old, tired, sometimes damaged merchandise.

    1. Wow - that would have been an awesome score. Even if the goods were damaged, you could have gotten a couple and have them professionally cleaned!
