  1. I saw bolts of fabric in someone's pictures of the sale, do you know if they were for sale and if so how much they were?

    1. Are you talking about Nanette Lepore? I don't think they were for sale. They were not mentioned in any of the price lists and just had reference numbers but I can ask the staff when I go back later today.

Also for anyone interested in the sale, they had an enormous selection of clothing from new productions to archival samples. There were also shoes, swimwear, slips, belts, bags, jewelry, pillows. Prices started at $25 for older samples and topped out at $175 for new production coats. You can see the full price list and photos on my blog here. It's all the way at the bottom (I went to 5 other sample sales yesterday lol)

    2. I just realized that I hadn't put that in my question, yes I was! If you go back today I would love to know if they are :) Thanks in advance! Also, do you know if they typically have price reductions on the last day?

    3. I got a few different answers regarding the bolts. One staffer said they weren't for sale but they didn't really know, another said that all the bolts on the metal rack were already purchased by someone. I think if you really want them its best to just go over to the showroom yourself.

  2. Bodum has additional 50% off markdowns. I know there isn't much time since they close at 4 but for those nearby it might be worth running over. I have more photos and prices from yesterday on my blog.

  5. The line at the Marchesa sample sale was not too bad this morning, but they have a 1 in, 1 out policy at the door. The gowns are priced at $300, 600, 900 and 1200. Minaudieres are $600. There is a small room full of Notte dresses, but I didn't check the prices on those. There's also a small room of bridal gowns, but these all appeared to be from much older seasons. There's also a small box of clutches and other accessories for $100, but nothing really worth even that price. Also, a small rack of Marchesa Voyage pieces, priced at $35, 50, 65.

    1. Hi Jenn,

Thank you very much for the update!

    2. Thanks Jenn!!! Can you confirm the hour? Does it run till 8pm tonight? Other websites are saying 5pm. Planning on dropping by after work.

    3. Good sale in terms of selection/price, but a lot of crazy people in there, many of them from the 'burbs. One girl brought 8-9 female relatives to help her hoard dresses and try things on. People pushing and shoving and trampling all over the gowns. The staff were lovely and deserved better.

The Notte dresses were a steal at $100 or 3 for $250. Definitely head there first.

    4. Do you see a lot of size 0 for Notte?

    5. @anonymous 5:44, I mostly saw samples for Notte, and samples are small size 2. Definitely worth checking out.

  6. I'm not sure what the hours at Marchesa are today... Miz says 8pm, and I've never found her to be wrong. (Thanks, Miz!)

    1. Miz, as always :) has the correct hours. The first flyer sent out by Marchesa had the 5pm end times for all three days but it's since been revised.

  7. Ippolita sale had additional markdowns today, and I was told by an SA that these are the final markdowns (i.e. there will be no additional markdowns tomorrow, the last day of the sale). The prices are predominantly 70% off of all retail prices for gold, silver, rose jewelry. There are a few items (looked like these were all older seasons) that are marked at 75% off (for gold), and 80% off (for silver). There are leather wrap bracelets with gold clasps priced at $75 (there were a few leather wrap bracelets with silver clasps for $25, but these are sold out). The sale space is very quite, well organized, and there are a lot of very helpful SAs on hand to help customers. If you're looking for a true bargain, then this is probably not the sale for you - the retail prices on most items are really high, so the sale prices are still on the high end.

I also stopped by the Angel Sanchez sample sale (since it was nearby), and most of the bridal gowns are true samples (and may have been worn in shows), but there are some new stock items on sale as well. The prices are pretty good - I saw gowns ranging from $500 to $1750 (although I didn't look at all the price tags, so can't say if that's the full range). The majority of the gowns are not white (lots of cream, ivory, ecru, etc.). They also charge $5 for garment bags, and are not offering alterations on the sample gowns. No bridal accessories.

    2. Jenn, were there many/any items under $200? Wondering if worth to stop by for a gift.

    3. There were lots of the leather wrap bracelets for $75, both with the gold toggle and hook closures. In terms of the other jewelry, at 70% off of retail, there aren't too many items that will come in under $200. You can check the ippolita website for the retail prices. I saw a lot of items that are currently being sold for full retail online (and at various department stores) at the sample sale.

    4. Thanks so much, Jenn! I stopped by and picked up 2 items. There was actually more than I expected for under/around $200, though you had to look. I got this for $178: http://www.ippolita.com/rock-candy-sterling-silver-wonderland-rectangular-linear-5-stone-pendant (looks amazing on!) and this for about $150 but in fern green: http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/msZ7W57BvDXPYfqKtO-ZeLw.jpg

  8. Marchesa started markdowns today. When I left at noon, Notte was down to 3 for $200 or 1 for $75 (and the good stuff was flying off the racks, what was left was questionable or damaged), and the couture line was $200/$350/$550/$850 (from $300/$600/$900/$1200). Bridal was now 50% off tagged price. I suspect there may be more markdowns later in the day, because they were continuously marking down while I was there, but the selection is getting pretty skimpy.
