*SAMPLE SALE* MAC Attack

Beauty sample sales don't pop up as often as we would like, but when they do, they are usually very very good. The Korres, Chantecaille, and Laura Mercier sample sales are great examples of how beauty bargain shopping should be done. And just like the aforementioned three brands, global cosmetics manufacturer MAC has decided to jump into the foray with their first-ever sample sale. As anticipated, the event drew a record-breaking crowd, so let's see what went down inside.

Offering a wide assortment of makeup shades at markdowns of 60% off, this week's 4-day long MAC attack got underway at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 2pm today. After waiting hours in line, employees of the company let shoppers into the 4th floor sale space and a mandatory bag check was enforced upon entering. Inside the venue, four long rows of tables were lined up with the brand's blushes, eye pencils, eye shadows, lipsticks, lip glosses, nail polishes, lip pencils, and serums.

As mentioned above, everything was a flat 60% off retail and prices were as follows: blushes were $10.40, brushes were $12, eye pencils were $8~$8.80, eye shadows were $9.20~$22, lip pencils were $7.20~$9.60, lip glosses were $8.40~$11.20, lipsticks were $6.80~$11.20, and nail polishes were $4.80~$6. There were also Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster included in the sale and they were going for $24.

Standing in line for hours under the hot July sun really took a toll (things we do for bargains) but hey, it could have been way worse like yesterday. To all of my fellow Mizhattanites who braved the wait and heat today, big kudos to you and I hope you made it out with everything you wanted. For those who haven't checked out the sale yet, I was told by an employee there will be restocking. However, judging by today's enormous turnout, and the fact there was no purchase limit in place, I suggest heading there as soon as you can to shop a better selection. And finally, it's worth noting how kind, friendly, and professional the MAC employees were when dealing with the huge influx of shoppers. Big kudos to them as well!

  6. I was this morning - came at 7-30am to have a decent chance to come in (there was probably 30 people before me already there)! A lot of blushes/brushes/powders were gone with only several colours left, but decent stock of lipsticks/crayons/nailpolish/countouring palettes/finish powders! When I left (10-15) the line was cray cray though seemed to be moving quickly!

  8. If anyone goes today, try to get there no later than 5:30. Thank goodness my cousin got back on the line for me after she was done because I would not have made it in time. Although they say until 7, that means they are closing at 7. Not as long as you are on the line by 7 so about 150 were told come back tomorrow or Friday.

  10. I waited in line around 4:50 today and got in within 20 minutes. Picked up 7 lipsticks for myself and as gifts. Definitely worth checking out for me. When I left around 5:50, the line was much longer.
