*MIZGUIDES* Fun Facts on Tod's Gommino

Don't get me wrong, I still adore my ballet flats. But when I laid my eyes on these loafers, while passing by the Tod's boutique store, I just had to have them. Though they never really disappeared, I think Gomminos should make a big comeback. Just look at that color! Bright Fuchsia! Wanna know why these classic loafers are worth every penny? Here are some fun facts I learned from reading an article from Glamour's March issue.

The Gommino gets its name from the 133 rubber pebbles that dot the bottom of the shoe (gomma is Italian for rubber).
These pebbles help to keep the leather from wearing out, even up the back so you can rest your foot while driving.
Since its launch in 1978, the Gommino has been spotted on Princess Diana, Catherine Deneuve, Carla Bruni–Sarkozy, Katie Holmes, and Jessica Alba.
It takes more than 100 steps to make a pair.
Tod's CEO recently commissioned a ballet about the Gommino. In An Italian Dream, dancers mimic the cobblers who make the shoes.
The Gommino prices start at $395
