*SAMPLE SALE* Your Bargains at David Yurman

As the thick clouds from this morning started to clear and the sun peaked out to bathe Manhattan in warm light, I made a quick stop at the David Yurman Friends & Family event conveniently located next to the Dolce & Gabbana sale.

Ten minutes before 3pm, a huge crowd of shop–savvy ladies entered the Altman Building space in a civilized matter. The staff was attentively waiting for customers while shoppers were eagerly searching for that perfect piece of sparkle. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets (including classic cables), pendants, cocktail rings, timepieces, and even sunglasses filled dozens upon dozens of glass showcases. The organization scheme was based on the amount of the discount--30%, 40%, 50%, and 60% off. Although the ambiance was hectic, getting the attention of a staffer wasn't a problem.

If you've always wanted to grab a David Yurman item while saving some dough, this was the place to be. Everything looked stunning! But, in my opinion, gemstones stole the show. A cushion-cut pendant gem necklace was $3,100 (originally $5,200). A large bead necklace in baby blue (2nd photo below) was $1,025, a gold chain bracelet was $2,370 (originally $3,950), a pair of gorgeous stud earrings were $1,043, and a pair of drop earrings were $472.50. In addition to dazzling earwear and neckwear, eyewear was 60% off retail ($158~$280). Watches were also 60% off, which meant an alligator strap watch with diamonds was $2,700--instead of the original $6,750. Needless to say, your budget needed to be over $1,000 to get something decent. But the good news for today's shoppers was an additional 10% off purchases was offered to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. FYI, this sale ends on Sunday at 5pm.
