*SAMPLE SALE* Bossing Around

My early Monday morning began with the Hugo Boss sample sale. I arrived 30 mins earlier than the scheduled opening and was greeted by 20+ shoppers in queue. The glass door promptly opened at 9:30am and once inside I was handed a giant plastic bag to place my items into. As I made my way towards the ENORMOUS showroom, I had an intuition that this was going to be an awesome sale.

Unlike the chaos of the last Club Monaco sample sale (located in the same building as today's Hugo Boss sample sale), all of the merchandise here was neatly arranged inside a cavernous space. Racks were tidy, tables were organized, changing rooms were spacious, and the employees were extremely friendly.

I usually start my shopping in the women's section, but today was an exception. Why? Because the men's area, which took up 3/4 of the room, was far better in inventory & variety. If you're used to hearing your boyfriend or husband complain that you dragged him to a crazy sample sale, I'm almost certain that they won't be nagging you this time. Office suits, leather jackets, winter parkas, jeans, dress shirts, shoes, neckties, and much more were available at deep markdowns. As usual, I've written a detail price list at the end of this article, but to briefly sum up, men's leather coats were $275, heavy overcoats were $180, trousers were $50, polos were $30, and button down shirts were $35~$40. Tons of men's shoes were also up for grab. Boots were $72, dress shoes were $60, sneakers were $45, and sandals were $22. By far, my most favorite part of the men's section was the necktie selection. Simple yet chic neckties were only $20! The accessory section didn't disappoint as well. Loads of leather belts, cufflinks, and scarves were all priced under $28.

While your boyfriend/husband happily peruses the men's section, you'll have plenty of time to browse for something nice for yourself. I found a handful of office-appropriate blazers that were priced $109. Dress pants were $50, blouses were $30 & $40, long gowns were $140, and day dresses were $110. The handbag section was very affordable ($100 & under for leather bags), but inventory was scarce. The shoe area, on the other hand, was not so impressive in my opinion.

The commute to 601 W. 26th St. has always been a pain in the neck. But today's trip to the Hugo Boss sample sale in the far far west side of Manhattan did make up for all the trouble. The deals and selection in the women's section was "nice", but men's section was by leaps and bounds better. So, man up ladies and drag your S.O across town because he'll appreciate all that you've done.
