*SAMPLE SALE* Fashion That Gives Back (Fashion for Action)

Non-profit organization, Housing Works, was kind enough to give me an early tour of their 8th annual fashion fundraiser--Fashion for Action--at the Altman building in Chelsea. Prada, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, Lanvin, Chloé, DVF, and many other coveted brands donated a bunch of merchandise so shoppers like you and me could get a chance to buy at charitable prices and at the same time help a great cause. So, are you ready for a tour?

What I was most impressed with today's press preview was not the mountain of sought-after luxe brands, but that most items were current season. I started my journey in the high-end handbag section where I found a Chloé Marcie for $750, a Miu Miu Matelassé for $900, and a Prada hobo for $450 (refer to the photo above for these three bags). In addition to these designer handbags, I also discovered a Lanvin clutch that was $800 (1st photo below).

Other than the designer handbags, there was a dedicated area for crystal jewelry from Swarovski. And next to this Swarovski section, I found a whole lot of shoes, accessories, small leather goods, handbags, and apparel from labels like Kate Spade, Tory Burch, and Diane von Furstenberg. DVF's iconic jersey wrap dresses, for example, were available and so were Kate Spade's Charm sandals for $150 & Leena pumps for only $175. To speak a bit more in-depth about the shoe selection, I saw a gorgeous pair of Brian Atwood satin pumps in pale pink that were $250 (4th photo below). Just so you know, Marc Jacobs was the biggest donor this year and he donated a plethora of merchandise such as scarves (10th photo below) & stylish military coats from his secondary label, Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The cosmetic section was pretty impressive as well. One of my favorite nail polish brands, Essie, was only $2 per bottle, an excellent stocking stuffer in my opinion. I also saw eyeshadows from Givenchy that were priced $10. Of course, shoppers who attend tonight's opening reception get first dibs on all of these items but don't worry too much because I was informed that many of these items will be replenished. The public sale starts tomorrow at 11am so if you see anything you like from these photos, I highly suggest heading to the Altman building early. Hi Sizzy, there were a few Tory Burch & Kate Spade bags, if that's what you are looking for.

Hi Sazzy, hopefully it won't be a long but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Great merchandise, great quality, great discounts, and you're helping a great cause.
