*SAMPLE SALE* Tory Land

Trend-driven & accessible contemporary brand, Tory Burch, kicked off their sample sale in Fashion District. I wanted to look for some summery outfits to get ready for beach season and the Tory Burch sample sale seemed like the perfect place to shop. I guess I wasn't the only one feeling this way as many Burch-loving fans gathered together for some discount shopping.

I arrived at the sale a little before 10 this morning. Around 150~200 shoppers were already in queue. As the time neared to opening, a Clothingline employee stepped outside to inform shoppers that they would open sooner than planned. I was able to enter the sale at 10:20am. Per usual, there was an employee greeting Tory fans & giving out a numbered ticket to each person. This ticket grants shoppers access to the shoe section, so I decided to start there. Walking towards the back of the room, I saw a large crowd of ladies browsing the glass display case filled with shoes while waiting for their number to be called. First off, there are no Reva flats. But here's what was available: the Laurie sandals in red & navy were $150, the Daria drivers were $125, printed Emmy sandals were $99, and patent leather Eddie flats were $99. I've attached the full price list at the end of this article, but according to a fellow Mizhattanite, you can purchase many shoes from today's sample sale at better discounts at Bloomingdale's.

The selection of RTW was better than the shoe section. I spotted lots of the label's signature styles--bohemian mixes of color & prints with feminine silhouettes--that I could easily wear this summer. I saw dresses, jackets, coats, pants, skirts, and tops in vibrant prints, polka dots, tweeds, and stripes. I spotted the Alice dash tweed coat for $195 ($102.50 cheaper than their online price), and the Opalina silk skirt for $75 (online price, $197.50) Other than these two prices, basic tees were $65, tunics were $110, cardigans were $115, blazers were $175, and pants were $85. Sizes were aplenty.

As for bags, I was utterly disappointed with their handbag selection this year. There were many canvas totes and a few variety of shoulder bags, satchels, and hobos...but nothing appealing. Prices started from $75 for flat totes and went up to $395 for Eleri satchels.

With the YSL sample sale happening only a few blocks away & better deals offered at last week's DVF sample sale, this year's Tory Burch sale did not fulfill my expectations. For those who are looking for handbags & shoes, I suggest skipping this sale and spending your money at other events as there will be many more sample sales coming later this month.

  2. I have a feeling TB's 'jumped the shark'. The only item I drool over, as shown in your pics above, is the striped maxi skirt - which I can get a close enough facsimile of, at Uniqlo, or Joe Fresh. And with the opening of C. Wonder, I feel, even at sale prices, TB's clothing and accessories are pricing themselves our of my reach, at least.

  3. Any info on if there will be discounts tomorrow?
