Food for Thought
The fashion world is currently having a bizarre food moment. Among the Fall 2014 fashion shows, several designers used food packaging concepts to create standout handbags and accessories. Karl Lagerfeld, for instance, presented the most eccentric Chanel show ever by creating a supermarket-inspired collection. The plastic wrapped styrofoam tray purse, the milk carton shoulder bag, and the candy package clutch looked wonderfully weird. Jeremy Scott's Moschino collection also stood out with a McDonald's Happy Meal purse and a soda cup purse. Adding to the lot, Kate Spade joined this foodie trend with their Chinese takeout handbag. And last but not least, Anya Hindmarch's Kellogg's cereal box clutches looked good enough to eat. So will we be seeing these quirky additions in the arms of street stylers at next season's fashion week? I don't doubt it.
