*SAMPLE SALE* Manolo Blahnik

In my view, there's no better way to start off a brand new month than with a designer shoe sample sale. If you're in agreement, you'll be jumping with absolute elation when you read this. The bi-annual Manolo Blahnik sample sale is scheduled for this Thursday, May 1st. That's right, my fellow Mizhattanites. In just over 2 days' time you'll be able to get your hands on some lovely shoe goodies at insane discounts. But before you fall out of your seat with uncontrollable excitement, there is something I want to remind you of. Manolo Blahnik's corporate office almost pulled the plug on their epic sales due to the massive turnout of shoppers and the ensuing chaos & misbehaviors. So please~~~ let's behave ourselves. As for prices, basic pumps should start as low as $100 (just like last November's sale). If you want a refresher, these are a few snapshots I took: here, here, and here. Finally, remember to stay in the loop by following Mizhattan on Twitter. I'll be tweeting line updates and other notable happenings from inside the sale. Happy Shopping!

Where: Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. (near 6th Ave.), 2nd Floor

When: Thursday, May 1st, 12pm

    1. They re going back to the schedule they always had pre a Sandy. It changed that year when they rescheduled. It always used to be private shop on a Thurs at 9 and then public opening when the private shoppers were done. The invites went out yesterday for private sale at 9.

  4. Is it one day only this year? Is there going to be private sale earlier in the morning on 5/1?

  5. I am sadden by this news.12pm is the starting time?! I was planning to come in early before work as I always had in the past, but May 2013's fiasco changed all of that :(
Amid all the craziness last year, I won't be surprised if one day they get rid of the public day sale altogether. Thanks a lot psycho hoarders. You've really ruined a true gem ;(

    1. I guess that for the price you charge plus the shoes... It's better to go directly to the boutique when they have them on sale and get a nicer pair.

  10. Do they accept credit cards? It's hard to believe it would be cash only

  11. Tomorrow will be my first sample say (yay!) so are the prices a flat rate or do they tax the purchase? What would be the best time to get in line? Is 9 too late? I want to be as close to the front as possible. Also, did any see any BB's at last years sale? I'm a 40 so I'm hoping the selection will be decent

    1. They tax after the purchase. Last year I got a $150 pair that turned into $163 with the taxes. I saw a few BBs, but very, very little selection. And about the time... You never know, it depends on how many people go. Just trust your instincts.

    2. I went 2 or 3 years ago and bought a pair of solid mary janes (the exact pair in this posting photo www.mizhattan.com/2013/11/sample-sale-manolo-blahnik.html) for $100. Since it was below $110 I wasn't charged tax.

    3. They don't tax shoes under $110. That means plain, suede, leather, satin pumps aren't taxed.

    1. They don't have a scheduled end time. Once the inventory is wiped out, they'll close.

    2. I just left from the sale, I got there at 3:05 pm and was told all tickets have been given out and was turned away from the sale. Very disappointing.

  13. Update! They have returned to the original sale protocol. The small ballrooms are open to sit and wait (no outside) they are back to giving out tickets for groups to go in 10 at a time. VIP first. My friend is waiting there for group 2 public. She said it's very organized, and only about 30 people there. (Threat of waiting in the rain must have scared everyone off!) Glad to hear the sale is once again orderly!

  14. Hi - I have a pair that I would like to sell at cost (They're really a bit too small for me, but in the heat of the moment I decided to make the purchase). It's $120 + tax. If interested, please email me at mishellybb@gmail.com. Thanks.

  15. Was there for the public sale this morning... bought 2 pairs, but overall was really frustrating. I was in by 11:30 (they started public sale at 11), and there were a group of 4-5 Asian girls HOARDING like crazy. They literally sat between two of the size 37 tables with ~30 pairs of great shoes and would not let anyone near -- even though there were maybe only 10-15 pairs left on each table. They were actively chatting in Chinese about which pairs would be the most marketable (so definitely planning to resell!) Even the sale staff asked them to either put the shoes back or pay, but they were just very defensive and difficult... Ugh. Pretty disappointed that this was allowed to happen.

    1. I hate snobby people. Sorry you had this experience. I overslept and did not go to the sale. I'm size 37 and I would have been pissed off if I saw this happening.

    2. I was in group 3 and still by the time I got in 37-size table was almost all clear. I couldn't find at least one decent pair in my size. But you are absolutely right to point that were lots of shoes on the floor guarded by small group of girls.

    3. I saw the group too - so rude and selfish. Next you know the sale organizers will take measures like limiting the shopping time or items per person thanks to people like that

  16. Waste of time. I got there at 10 and was in group 16. People were still hoarding the "old lady" shoes they had left. One chick snatched a pair right out of my hands. I need to find a way to get on the email list because unless you're in group 1/2 it's not worth it. They had BB's and chaos sandals too :-(

  17. Anyone knows how long the line is now? Not sure if it's waste of time to head there now...

  18. i got there like 8ish, and got group 4, but still got a lot inventory there. i did saw some asian girls in between 2 size table, they r super crazy

  20. they don't have the certain time to end, but they will close as soon as they sold out

  21. I bought a lot for my friends and family. But a few left if someone want, there size 37, size 38 and size 35.

  23. i got there towards the end of the sale. it bad enough that the sale was small already but people were hoarding shoes like crazy. it is very unfair. why hold on to a shoe you know you will ultimately not buy. I think they should begging to restrict the time people are given to shop and quantity that can be bought like the CL sale.

even though it was late there were still a few good shoes left. i saw an asian who managed to find two bb pumps among many other shoes. a lady asked her if she would buy them all as they were the same size. she said yes, only to get to the front and try and get extra discounts and was unhappy when she couldn't. would have been nice to give those awesome shoes to someone else directly. i actually saw a few women doing this (helping each other find styles and exchanging gracefully)

oh if anyone is interested, i have an extra pair of side 37 pink anetina perforated flats. they will fit a 7 or 7.5. cost 100, no tax. drop your email if interested

thanks Mizzhattan for all ur awesomeness. i don't comment often but i check your blog every single day

  24. I would recommend the Manola Blahnik sale organizers to limit the shoes purchase to 4 or 5 pairs to avoid the craziness un grabbing the shoes for resell.

    ReplyDelete
  25. well i don't think you understand that the reason it's well prize is because they want to get rid of the shoes. If you wan to get a good pair for your self come very early. There is nothing wrong with grabbing 7 pairs of shoes and trying them on then putting it back to the table. What is wrong is trying to fight with another person for a pair of shoes. I saw to fight yesterday. I thought to myself, you shouldn't wear any classy shoes like Manolo if you can't even get a hold of yourself. no matter what you wear if your attitude is not civilized it will not matter. If someone is grabbing shoes all over the place let it be, be polite and ask that person if you can try the shoes that she may not want after. I did this yesterday and I went home with shoes that l'm very happy with! Stay classy and happy shopping!

    1. Totally agree! I just grab what I could grab. If someone gets them earlier, it means those shoes don't belong to me! Come on, it's just shoes!

    2. Agreed - and I'm totally fine with girls grabbing a bunch and then retreating to a quiet corner to try them all on, and then putting back the ones they don't want or don't fit.

That's not the same as having three of your friends guard a giant pile of shoes, insisting that no one else can touch them because you definitely want to buy them all, spending 2 hours chatting about which ones will sell best and snapping photos, and then dumping the ones with "not enough market value" last-minute...

  26. there is nothing wrong if ppl grab 7 or 8 pairs to try, sometimes it's for style and sometimes for the size. but i saw 2 girls grab like more than 15 pairs and tried and finally only got 2 pairs. They just don't give other girls chance to try on.
