*SAMPLE SALE* Sophia Webster

Jolly good news! If this week's Charlotte Olympia bargain event doesn't give you and your shoe closet a reinvigorating dose of happiness and joy, then the upcoming Sophia Webster sample sale will definitely do the trick. I'm thrilled to announce that in just two and a half weeks' time the British luxury footwear brand's annual sample sale returns to NYC in time for the merry holiday season. My contact has informed me the 2-day only event will take place on December 5th & 6th at 91 Horatio Street in the Meatpacking District. Also, I have been told there have been changes implemented to how shoppers gain entry into the sale due to the overwhelming crowds at the company's 2014 event. This time around, Sophia Webster is asking shoppers to register for time slots via their website. As of my last checking, the only available spots are on Sunday so I suggest you move in the flashiest of flashes! Also it's worth mentioning that this year Sophia Webster is adding a strict shopping policy to their sale and it includes giving shoppers only 45 minutes browsing time and a purchase limit of six (6) pairs per customer. There are more terms and conditions stated on the website so read carefully before you attend.

Where: 91 Horatio St. (bet. West & Washington St.)

When: Saturday, December 5th through Sunday, December 6th. 9am~7pm

    1. I recommend going as early as possible so that you're part of the first group in as kitty flats are hard to come by. It should be no later than 9:30 but again, earlier the better.

    2. I went there last year. Very crowded! It takes me 2.5 hours to get in. I arrive there around 10am. When I got in, I saw probably 5 pairs of kitty flats in size 9 and above.

    3. If you wear 36-38 then go as early as you can but tiny and huge sizes can afford to come later and still find kitty flats in their size.

  6. Glad they put a limit this time. Curbs those resellers who brought 20 or more pairs last time.

  8. Not afraid to say I'm gonna max out my 6 pair limit!

Hopefully they keep prices about the same and don't pull a double increase like Olympia did..

    1. Shoes started at $100 last sale and went up to $500. Styles were priced individually with a color code system.

The last London sale had an increase in prices, hopefully this NYC sale won't have too much of a price hike.

  10. London saw a double price jump. With seasonal stock. No signature items.

  11. I have good news! Prices stayed fairly close to what they were a year ago and the selection was well stocked. $65 for basic flats, $95 samples, $150-$295 for more signature styles and topped out at $350.

I attended the press preview Saturday night and have a full report with photos on MY BLOG.

  12. Sample prices almost doubled and are more worn and not as good as last year. Last year samples were actual runway, one of a kind or press samples and this year its mostly stock samples. Went from $50 to $95 but are is a lot worst condition.

Some styles doubled in prices - the butterfly pumps/heels were $100 last year and this year they are $250.

Lots of seasonal stock. Prices on signature items - the same ones I got from the last sale for $100-$200 are now $250 -$350.

Not as many rare styles. More stock of regular styles so it won't sell out as fast.

Appointments have not booked up, so the public hours are from 2pm onwards.

There should be price drops later in the day - same as last year.

At the prices now - be careful of what your buying as some of these styles you can find at discount department stores, century 21, off saks, the rack, for less then they are selling at this sale right now.

A few styles you can even find on the webster website on sale now for less then its prices at the sale right now.

    1. Prices on true samples went up but last year all samples got wiped by the first few groups in. At least this time there's a bigger selection. Also the $100 Aldara butterfly heels from a year ago were marked that low because they had dirty black stains on the patent. The Yara butterfly pumps I saw yesterday looked brand new and were $150. I'm not sure if they changed prices or if they added more butterfly heels this morning.

    2. The samples must have gotten wiped last night because at opening today there were only about 2 dozen pairs and many were of the same style. If there was a bigger selection of samples this sale it was not apparent this morning. Therefore the price increase and selection on samples do not correlate. This sale the samples were brought up by the VIPs and last sale the samples were brought up by the first groups in. Same cause and effect. Both has a large selection but different buyers. VIP vs Public.

The Yara butterfly pumps were $100 at opening last sale as well, I got a black and a pink pair. Perfect new condition. Now they are $150.

Not to be confused with the damage Aldara butterfly sandal heels that were $100

Butterfuly booties were $150 last sale are now $250, Wedding booties were $175 are not $295, Crystal pumps were $150 are now $250.

On average most styles I brought at the last sale, which I will admit are more abundant at this sale, had an average of $100 increase.

There is a broader selection of styles at this sale that did not show up at the last sale.

I am of course only going by my experience in being in the first group in last sale and in the first group in this morning.

    3. Sounds like you got some really good bargains last year! I didn't get inside until 1pm so there was nothing good left. Only butterfly heels I saw were the Aldara.

This year my friend got really great sample shoes but she's a 40. The few 37s they had were crappy and worn out. They were adding more samples when I left so I'm not sure what was bought out between then and today's opening. Personally all I really wanted were Bibi flats but they didn't have them. And I totally understand the feeling when you paid significantly less for something it's crazy to pay more for the same thing.

Still, there were shoppers walking out with 5+ boxes of the signature heels for $250-$295 and calling it a bargain lol
