Ok, fellow Mizhattanites. All silliness aside, the 2016 Roger Vivier sample sale kicked off this morning in Midtown, and just like it has in previous years, the event drew a very large crowd of eager shoe shoppers. Fans of this renowned shoemaker had to arrive at the break of dawn and brave today's cold, breezy morning to get their hands on Vivier's classic buckles. For these early birds, it was well worth it, for awaiting inside were mountains of red boxes.
To start with the good news, unlike last year, sizes were more generous this time around. Though classic styles like Belle Vivier, Belle de Nuit, Gommette, Ballerine Chips d'Orsay, and Decollete in size 6~8 were depleting fast, generally speaking, the size selection was plentiful this morning. The other good news to report is that prices haven't changed. Classic buckle flats and pumps were either $330 or $360 depending on the material and style. As for non-classics, prices ranged from $200 for basic heels to $1,500 for crystal-embellished satin evening sandals.
Handbags were also abundant. The selection included clutches, shoulder bags, satchels, and totes. Markdowns were 60%~70% off and I spotted Ines, Icon, Prismick, and many more. In addition, next to the bags was a small table full of jewelry, wallets, pouches, and belts.
Finally, you should note there is a three item purchase limit on bags and a TOTAL purchase limit of ten items. This means you can only grab seven pairs of shoes if you max out with three handbags.
As I was leaving I did a quick jog up the block to check out the line situation and found the queue to show no signs of stopping. If you haven't gotten in line as of reading this, there is high chance you won't find classic Vivier buckle shoes in size 6~8. For those who did check out the sale today, feel free to share your experience in the comment section below.
