*SAMPLE SALE* In a Row

This year's CFDA Womenswear Designers of the Year, Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen, are the proud faces behind the label, The Row. It's still hard to believe how they gained success by creating a brand that was originally built on slouchy T-shirts & leather leggings. So whatever it is that they're doing, it's definitely working because many customers & fashion critiques are sincerely appreciating their incredible workmanship, directional tailoring, clean lines, and refined cuts. But enough about their accomplishments, let's talk about today's sample sale.

As I mentioned before, this is The Row's first time hosting a sample sale longer than a few hours. I wondered what prompted the change, but once I stepped inside, I immediately understood. There was a chock full of merchandise, more than at any previous sale, all neatly arranged in rows. Everything was 70% off. And what does "everything" mean, you ask? It includes the label's past season collections for women & men, accessories and samples.

The most exciting part of today's sale for me was that there were handbags. Yay! Being a fan of their understated & classic designs, it was a definite delight seeing a few Day Luxe totes (available in cream & white), Tall Day Luxe totes (available in orange & black), a small shoulder bag (available in light brick), and one metal framed lizard clutch (available in light brick). Day Luxe totes were $1,620 (originally $5,400), a lizard skin metal frame clutch was $1,740 (originally $5,800), and a python skin small shoulder bag was $1,530 (originally $5,100). Even after the 70% discount, prices may seem steep for some shoppers, but I truly think they're investment-worthy. Besides, both Barneys & NET-A-PORTER are currently selling these bags at retail prices.

The RTW section was very impressive. Long sleeveless tunics, silk robes, elongated tuxedo jackets, boxy slipdresses, superbly crafted blazers & trousers, sumptuous suede coats, and ethereal silk blouses were gently hung on racks. Here are some prices. A black & ivory tweed jacket was $352.50 (originally $1,175 & 9th photo below), a blush sleeveless blouse was $135 (originally $450 & 10th photo below), a pale pink bow-neck blouse was $267 (originally $890), a pair of very chic leather pants were $450 (originally $1,500), a paperweight tissue knit top was $60 (originally $200), and a chocolate long suede coat was $375 (originally $1,250). I also spotted ostrich skin mini skirts in dove gray that were priced $2,550 (originally $8,500 & 12th photo below).

Sunglasses & exotic skin gloves filled up the accessory table. There was also a separate rack for men. It was comprised of jackets, shirts, and other wardrobe staples. The Row sample sale runs until this Sunday which means you have plenty time to drop by. The line to enter the sale today was pretty manageable so I wouldn't expect a long wait tomorrow or later on.

  2. I just hope they offered the same kind of pricing as previous sale. The staff said that price was going to be reduced day by day, though.
