Macy's, A New Luxury Shopping Destination?

I must admit, I rarely shop at Macy's Herald Square. It has nothing to do with Macy's as a department store, but more so because of its location and what the flagship store on 34th St. represents in the fabric of Americana. With loads of tourists & shoppers hustling and bustling about, I just never felt comfortable shopping there. But times are changing and so is Macy's. I happened to pass by the Herald Square a few days ago and coincidentally stumbled upon the new and improved Macy's. And boy, have they improved! Their new luxury hall, located front & center near the main entrance will be occupied by luxury brands Longchamp, Burberry, Gucci, and the new Louis Vuitton. The four brands are still under construction--scheduled to open before Thanksgiving--but you could definitely recognize the difference that the $400 million renovations is making. The new marble floor as well as the higher ceiling also felt spacious and, dare I say it, more elegant. If you're ever in the neighborhood, I hope you can make a quick stop and check it out for yourself.
