Balenciaga Fall Winter 2013

Alexander Wang's debut collection for Balenciaga was presented last week in Paris, and I thought it was quite superb. Ever since I heard Alexander Wang would replace Nicolas Ghesquière, I've wondered what the prince of downtown chic could bring to the French fashion house. Though the show itself was nothing mind-blowing or shocking, there was however incredible workmanship & interesting techniques used in every piece. In his first Balenciaga show, Wang incorporated Cristóbal Balenciaga's traditional rounded volumes & sculptural silhouettes while still staying true to his own edgy street details. The shattered paint effect and knotted bracelet were simply awesome. All in all, I thought Wang's debut collection showed a promising start. Looks like Balenciaga is in good hands.
