NYC's hottest, most exclusive, well guarded, and therefore nearly impossible-to-gain-access-to sale is upon us. Every shoeaholic's dream sale, the Christian Louboutin sample sale, has declared the week of May 13th the perfect time to open its corporate office doors to a select few for some discount red sole shopping. If you are an avid reader of Mizhattan, you know by now how strict the company's door policy is. Unfortunately, the spring 2013 sale will not be any different from its predecessors. Unless you receive an invite from Christian Louboutin, gaining access to their heavenly shoe closet will be extremely difficult. But if there is a silver lining to this story, it's that I said "nearly impossible". From anecdotes heard here and there, I've been told a very few lucky Loubie lovers have been able to sneak into the sale without being invited. So, if you dabble from time to time in a little confidence game, here's the address and other pertinent info.
Where: 306 W. 38th St. (bet. 8th & 9th Ave.)
When: Monday, May 13th through Friday, May 17th. 9am~6pm

Hello Mizhattan. My name is Kitty Cheung. Do you know how I get a invite???? Thank you!!! You are very famous with Chinese girls. We LOVE your website. Thank you for breaking Roger Vivier and Manolo.
ReplyDeleteInvites are sent out to editors, stylist, & other people who work in the fashion industry. In addition, VIP customers are invited.
DeleteIf you have a good relationship with a Christian Louboutin worker they will invite you. I usually go & I love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is correct as well!
DeletePeace fellow Christian Louboutin enthusiast. If you have room, I'd be much obliged if you add me as your plus one.
DeleteIf your friend is invited can she bring you along? Or does each person have to have a separate invite? Or if you know someone is invited and cannot attend can you take their place?
ReplyDeleteYou can't take someone's place unless you pretend to be that person. They ask/check the invitee's name at the door.
DeleteHi Mizhattan! Thank you for publishing this great information. Do you know if the invitations have been sent out yet to those who they intend on inviting?
ReplyDeleteHi Mizhanttan! Do you know any detail of those "sneak into" stories?
ReplyDeleteThe last day is your best bet for getting in without an invite. But honestly, if you have that extra extra boost of confidence, any day will work. I remember seeing one shopper throwing a fit about how she was on the list. She was let in.
DeleteThanks a lot for your tips!
DeleteBesides, Thank you for always sharing these infos with us!
ReplyDeleteHi Mizhattan,
ReplyDeleteWill you please let us know the discount on average? I mean, in about one or two months these Louboutin will be on sale at the boutique and the department stores for 40% off and they are the styles from this SS 2013. It is a good deal.
Unless the sample sale has much better discount or better selection of latest styles?
Not to mention, when they are on sale at boutiques or department stores, there are less people in the line. I just really want to know why are the sample sale so special?
Thank you for your input.
Shoes can be as cheap as $150 and top out at around $1000 for the uber-exotics. The majority are priced between $250~$350. So, if you grab a pair of $150 heels, it's considerably less than at any department store. And if you buy several pairs for $150, the savings quickly adds up. Overall, people who get invited attend the sample sale because it is worth the time.
DeleteHello. I really really want to get in and would buy 5 pairs if my size would be available but I have a baby at home and would have to pay a baby sitter to stay with her if i come and risk my chances of getting in. what would you say my chances are without any invites
ReplyDeletethank you much
Honesty, if you are worried about the cost of a babysitter, this might not be the sale for you. The chance of getting in without an invite is low. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened before but, in your case, I would advise you to skip it.
DeleteGreat response! I thought the same as I read!
DeleteVery odd....smh
DeleteI was thinkning the same thing. Miz has the right idea.
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone try to get in without invite? I wanna check it after work tonight
I was going to wait until Friday when they may let the regular folks in.. Although looking at the feeds, it is pretty under the radar so you might (with caps) have a chance! Report back if you can!
ReplyDeleteI was there since 6 am with no invite, well dressed and all cute! I stayed there till 10 am. But first day was just for employees and vips. There was strictly no line. It was not even the day of friends and family or press. There was truly no point going at all! They are super strict on their little invites. No invite, no entrance! This is really sad!
ReplyDeleteDid u ask to get in and was told no or did you just stand around. When is family and friends day or pres day
DeleteThe first thing they say is: ''Do you have an invite?'' I said no, so they just said: ''we're sorry today is for employees only. Not even our friends and family.'' I am talking about Monday first day.
DeleteJust got back from the sale. The price has definitely gone up. Last year, most of the shoes are either 250 or 350 (booties and boots). This year, the cheapest old styles are still 200. Most shoes from recent reasons are around 350 to 450 range. And the boots and booties are 500. I wasn't too impressed with the selection either. For my size (36), there are no classic pumps, no nude shoes, nothing work appropriate, tons of wedges from previous seasons. I suggest that if you are regulars of the sale, you should skip this one.
ReplyDeletegreat response? relax woman it is just shoes with some red sole...no need to be so rude. In fact customers should never be treated as above extremely disgusting!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This kind of customer service makes me not even want to try!!!
ReplyDeleteCustomer service? What do you think this blog is? It's not run by Louboutin. Mizhattan is doing us a favor.
DeleteHonesty, if you are worried about the cost of a babysitter, this might not be the sale for you. in your case, I would advise you to skip it.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of response is that?
born in US never seen such disrespect!
Chill out! This is exactly what all of us thought in the back of their mind? Mizhattan is not a psychic. She gives her real advice depending on your situation and the email/ comment you send her. There was nothing wrong giving the true advice. Indeed, if the person is worried about the babysitter cost, and time, there is no point going to this sale. Because this person would just have to be up really early, leave her baby for hours, all without invite which pretty much assures that there is no entrance!
DeleteBelieve me, done it tried it! I got there at 5.30 am on Monday, waited and waited downstairs, told the girl behind the desk upstairs that I would really appreciate if she can let me in, that I've been here since 5am. She just said: I am sorry, if you don't have an invite I can't let you in. THIS WAS MIZHATTAN's advice to not try it first day of the sale, I emailed her prior to going.
If only I listened to Mizhattan's advice on not even going that day, I wouldn't have lost a day at work.
Checking the timestamps for the 3 comments above it's obvious that it's 1 person pretending to be 3 people. Most probably the original commenter.
ReplyDeleteSherlock?
DeleteI went last year and it was awesome. How can i get in this year?
ReplyDeleteI successfully snuck into the sale today. It's all because of you Mizhattan. TY!
ReplyDeleteAny tips?
DeleteIm not op but I didnt have invite and got in too. Dress well, be confidant, and name drop.
DeleteWow! How? I tried sneaking in confidently and was told no one can get in without an invite.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried going today 5/16? Curious if the lines are still crazy..
ReplyDeleteYes, the line is crazy. I'd say it's a 2 hr wait and they give you 30 mins to shop. I was on the list & bought 2 pairs of funky shoes (couldn't find any basic work shoes) but I'm still not sure if it was worth it.
DeleteWondering if I should even try. I am a 36, but can wear 35 sometimes also depending on the shoe. Did you happen to notice small size selection?
DeleteYou should try. I noticed plenty of small sizes when I was there.
DeleteCan I use someone name to get in ?
ReplyDeleteI'm a block away and want to go can someone help?
ReplyDeleteI would help if I could but my invite was for monday.
DeleteWas going to try tomorrow since it's the last day. No invite, but plan to go in afternoon and wait patiently. Reading conflicting stories that sale ends at 3pm vs 5pm vs 6pm (??). Still worth going? Are the restocking?
ReplyDeleteAnyone know how the line is today?
ReplyDeleteWent today at 10 am...No line. The ladies were still checking the list and denying entry if you were not on the list.
ReplyDeleteWent today at noon - a few people waiting downstairs, wasn't on the list but they let me in! The sale closed at 1:30 so it was really the last hour. Very happy!
ReplyDeleteDid you see anything good then at that late hour?
DeleteMajority were small 35 or large 41+ sizes - a few nice styles still left. Diplonana booties in gold or black were stand outs I thought!
DeleteDisappointed. Ended up getting there at 1:30 since so many sites stated the sale would end at 3pm, so I figured since I didn't have an invite I would try at a later hour. Was stopped by the guard (not even clipboard girl!) out front and told the sale is over. Didn't let me up, waited with a few other ladies who also showed up later, went up later after the guards left (just for curiosity sake), and was turned away by the girls at the actual sale. Also, sadly saw a lone garment worker in poorly ventilated sweatshop on the 4th floor. No, totally serious. Very sad, and juxtaposed the face that this poor woman would make less in a day than what one pair of shoes were sold at the sale.
ReplyDeleteI tried geting in 3 (!) times last year on Wedneday and Thursday...absolute fail. Do not waste your time
