I know many of you are anxiously waiting for tomorrow's YSL sample sale. While you wait, I'm sure you're wanting to know what the discounts will be like, what stock will be available, and how long the wait to get inside will be. To sum it up, you must be asking yourself: Is it worth it? Well, according to a few fellow Mizhattanites who attended today's VIP hours, it sounds like this week's YSL sample sale will be a complete letdown.
At today's preview, I'm told prices were marked higher than at last October's sale. One reader writes in that everything is about 50% off. This same reader remarks that there are no Cabas Chycs or Muses this time around. To make matters worse, prices are considerably higher for the bags that are available for purchase--like the Y satchel. The selection of shoes, however, is said to be a bit better. A nice variety of Tribute sandals and Tribtoo pumps can be had for $399. The flip side is that this is a mark up of $49 compared to the last sale. Another reader offers her insight by stating "tons of old inventory in not so great condition which [YSL] seems to just want to relieve their hands of".
In short, the consensus is that this late June YSL sale is a bust. The ultimate decision to go or not to go is in your hands but, from what I've heard, I suggest you skip the first day opening and try on Sunday when there is a possibility of additional markdowns. Happy Shopping!!
P.S. Many thanks to everyone who wrote in!

ReplyDeleteNo, what would I do without you! :)
Deleteany wallet or clutch?
ReplyDeleteThere were wallets and small shoulder handbags. No clutches, however.
DeleteHi Miz! Thank you so much for updating us about the YSL sale! Did you spot any rings or fashion jewelries today? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThere were arty rings.
DeleteI just think with all the inventory at the department stores, what is the point. Saks had a good amount and Barneys had a few here and there (shoes). According to Racked, Tributes are $550, which is more than I spotted them for at Saks.
ReplyDeleteAny clutches at the sale? Anyone know what colors tribute sandals they had?
ReplyDeleteI found Tribute sandals in silver, fuchsia, leopard print, black w/ gold trim, navy, and purple.
DeleteThe line updates start at 6am on Twitter! Come over and see how the queue develops and ask questions!!
ReplyDeleteHmm. Will try my luck on the last day. Thx Miz and everyone else!
