As much as I enjoy seeing street style starlets and celebrities attending fashion shows wearing elaborate outfits (e.g., here, here, here, & here), there's something more intriguing about real fashion editors in their everyday (but still supremely fab) clothes. French Voguettes like Emmanuelle Alt, Capucine Safyurtlu, and Geraldine Saglio always, I mean ALWAYS, look effortless & chic. With NYFW fast approaching, I plan on recreating these French Voguettes-inspired ensembles when I attend the shows next month. I especially love the last outfit worn by Geraldine Saglio. On a side note, have you ever noticed these three ladies dress similarly? Hmm... I guess creative minds do think alike.
First, let me say that I adore your blog. I think a lot of people do. I keep sending your link to people, and they are hooked. I love the Polyvore sets, your choices, your taste and of course your "Frugal Finds."

One--do you wish you had more comments? Do you want conversation on your blog?
Two--I love these photos, but when I see these ladies, I always think to myself that one reason they look great is because they are so thin. No, I am not "hating on" thin people, as the kids say. But I cannot escape the prejudice that to have "style" is the same as "to be interesting," as in to be stylish is has to be interesting in some way. I wonder if this is a personal bias. These ladies look great--but not particularly unique or interesting. (except toward the end). So many women on Pinterest are dressed this way.
So--is having style synonymous with being thin and wearing neutral clothing that is well made, or is it to be interesting, or is it both? Do you have an opinion?

I'll try my best to answer your questions fully.
1. Hmm...more isn't always better. I strongly believe that, if the topic warrants it, my fellow Mizhattanites should most definitely try to engage in constructive conversations. And from it, I hope/dream that one day this community will become strong enough that we can all trust each other's opinion and views on fashion and shopping. In short, I try to lead this site towards becoming a thriving forum where we can bond over our love for deals and anything fashion. This is my ultimate goal for this website and the comment section.
2. First, thin has NOTHING to do with being stylish. Let me make that clear. Second, anyone can look good when dressed up, but these ladies EFFORTLESSLY make even casual "tomboyish" outfits look great by how they chose each and every piece of their wardrobe to symbiotically gel together. For this article, I wanted to differentiate those people who attend fashion shows wearing "look at me", eccentric (sometimes gaudy) outfits with these editors who are more about being dressed for themselves rather than for the press.

Yes, this does help. I agree the women look chic--it is, as you say, effortless, and therein I think lies the danger/confusion. Looking effortless isn't the same as "easy." These women honestly make getting dressed look easy, but if I really think about proportion and fit--these are not easy things. One has to know what is appropriate for one's body, and how things will ultimately fit together, etc.

I am someone who spent her younger years always choosing the "interesting" and "colorful" outfit. I loved thrift stores, and combining unusual items. I'm getting older, and what is simply showy no longer feels appropriate. But I also don't want to become boring.
