*SAMPLE SALE* Rows of Row

The epitome of effortless luxury, Ashley & Mary Kate Olsen's minimalist fashion brand, The Row, kicked off a 3-day long sample sale starting today. As many of you may already know, their last sample sale was held at Soiffer Haskin. Now that the brand has found a new venue host in Metropolitan Pavilion, I wondered if anything would be different. Let's have a look!

If you considered last year's The Row sample sale to be great, you'll find this year's sale meets your approval as the discounts and selections were very similar to one another. Most of the merchandise was marked down to 70% off while only a select few items were discounted up to 85%. Being a big fan of Ashley Olsen's style, I spent more time browsing their handbag and accessories tables than the RTW. Here's what I spotted in the handbag section. There were baguette clutches in python and alligator. The python version was priced $2,070 (originally $6,900). Tall Day totes were also available in white calf hair and bordeaux red leather. The white calf hair version was $1,695 (originally $5,650). The Day Luxe tote in alligator--often carried by Ashley Olsen--was $11,700 (originally $39,000). Metal frame clutches were available in alligator and python. The alligator version was $5,700 (originally $19,000) while the python was priced $2,070 (originally $6,900). In addition to the handbags mentioned above, the sale had on hand Twin mini messenger bags, Drawstring backpacks, and other seasonal bags.

Now, onto RTW. Women's clothing was comprised of the label's superbly crafted wardrobe staples. The Row is best known for it's clean silhouettes & luxurious textures and today's sale merchandise offered just that. I spotted a sleeveless leather dress for $777 (originally $2,590 & 8th photo below), a long sleeve leather top for $717 (originally $2,390), a suede biker jacket for $1,395 (originally $4,650), a blush pink tailored blazer for $417 (originally $1,390 & 13th photo below), a feather-weight vanilla blouse for $285 (originally $950), a light trench coat for $705 (originally $2,350 & 16th photo below), and a slim tuxedo blazer for $555 (originally $1,850). Trousers were mostly in tailored styles and prices ranged from $237 to $345.

Knitwear was placed separately. Sweaters and cardigans were organized on center tables and prices were roughly $135~$327. The accessory section was comprised of belts, sunglasses, fox fur key chains, and a few pairs of Superga sneakers.

Though it was almost impossible to find any items under $200, I thought today's The Row sale was still reasonably priced considering how expensive the brand retails for. Last year, when the label had their sample sale at Soiffer Haskin, prices were slashed down to 90% on the last day of the sale. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope history repeats itself.

  1. Thanks for the report, Mizhattan. The leather is still super pricey for me so I think I'll skip this sale. I still hold everything up to the $125 leather dress I got from an Elie Tahari sample sale.
