*SAMPLE SALE* Manolo Blahnik

Fasten your Mary Jane straps! The much anticipated Manolo Blahnik sample sale is upon us. Yay! I know many of you have been waiting to hear information regarding this shoetastic sale, so here it is. For two days only, November 13th & 14th, Manolo Blahnik returns to their usual 2nd floor venue at the Warwick hotel. When I attended the VIP opening last May, prices on stilettos started at only $96 (insane!) and many patrons were able to score classic BBs (double insane!). Let's just hope and pray that crowd control will be held to a higher standard this time around. So, see you all there next week and make sure to plump up your wallet with cold hard cash as the sale is strictly an ex-president-only event.

Where: Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. (near 6th Ave.), 2nd Floor

When: Wednesday, November 13th (invite-only)
Thursday, November 14th (public day)

UPDATE: For the last couple of days, emails have been flooding in asking to confirm this week's Manolo Blahnik sample sale. I truly empathize with all of you and completely understand why you're feeling anxious after hearing rumors that Manolo Blahnik will cancel the public portion of their sale and, for the first time ever, keep it an invite-only event. So, here's how I can help. My MizAdvice is to keep calm and read on because my contact inside Manolo unequivocally stated the sale will be open to the public. I trust my contact and you should too.

The last public sale in May was such a chaotic mess, I believe the brand wants to make sure it doesn't happen again. EVER. So, instead of going with their original plan and confirming the public sale, I surmise they decided to take a page out of Louboutin's playbook and publicize a decoy rumor. For now, all I can say is if you choose to attend on Thursday, get there as early as possible and behave yourselves. The Manolo sale is one of NYC's biggest shopping treasures and you really don't want the same tragedy that befell the infamous Ferragamo event in 2011. Finally, if you're still feeling uncertain about Thursday, I will be tweeting updates from the inside so make sure to follow my tweets and stay tuned.

  1. OMG! I am super EXCITED!!! I go every time! I always leave with at least a good pair. My suggestion to everyone....go and get a ticket around 10AM after the crowd dies down and it has become more civil and then go back 2 hours later. The only down fall to this is that you wont be able to have first pick at things. but to me it's better than waking up super early and waiting in line for 3 hours. Good Luck everyone!

  2. Thank you Miz! I am very exciting to hear this news! I went to the sample sale two years ago but unfortunately I didn't score anything, then last year I heard that it turned into chaos so I decided to not to go. Hopefully this years it will have some gems for me to find :) By the way, do you happen to know that what time exactly they will open the sample sale to the public this time?

    1. No seriously! Lol I literally let out a gasp so loud, my co-worker thought something happened to me. I scored two pairs at the sale in May and so I will make sure to set my alarm to "wake up before the roosters", coffee in hand, bring a book and flats! I have been waiting for this since..... well May! Lol

  4. Do you think it's possible for them to allow public in on the 13th at the end of the day?

  5. Omg dont know if I can deal with the chaos of last year all over again.

    But then again....lol

    1. Ummm... I never wrote the hours in my article. You must have mistaken me with some other website.

    2. Other sites state 9am so as Miz and others have suggested, please get there before the sun rises and you should be fine.. Yes, it's that serious if you want them :)

    3. Apologies Miz, but I got the email for the public sale as I'm a friend of someone who works there and it states it will start at noon and end at 4pm on the 14th.

    4. If you got the email that was for the invite day which is the 13th. They don't send out emails for the public day. They stand them for the press day and the hours are 12-4. You got an email about the 13th bc you have a friend there. If you're not on the list you go on the 14th and the hours are different.

    5. If someone could clarify on the times for the public sale when possible, that would be great.

    6. Get there before the sunrises. I'm serious.

  12. Is there even going to be a public day? Racked and Spy states that because of the crazy turn out for the last public day and how security had to be called that this sale is going to be private invite only and not have a public day.

I trust Miz most of all so I had to ask.

Thanks Miz! For all your hard work!

    1. Aww~ thank you for trusting me. That means a lot.

I shot my contact at Manolo an email to get direct confirmation. Haven't heard back but when I do, I will let you know the full details. The last time I spoke with my contact, I was told unequivocally that there would be a day reserved for the public.

  13. I was standing in the line under rain in May for 5 hours. I bought 2 pairs of boots on the wave of exitement there. This fall I realized they both are small for me. Ebay offers Manolo Blahnik for $90 and up, and nobody buys it. I've seen few models people had been fighting for to buy on the floor, and now they r on Ebay for less!!!!?
Do not go crazy there and buy everyting you see, it is not returnable.

  18. Shoes were very hit or miss today depending on size. Lots of ugly summer wedges. Quite a few flats this time. Same price list as last few sales.

  19. FYI, the ever so gracious André Leon Talley made an appearance today. Hope everyone gets to see him tomorrow!

    2. I don't think they're restocking tomorrow and there was limited stock today.

      Delete
    3. How do you know they will not be restocking? Also- did you attend today's private sale? If yes, how was it? Thanks!!!

      Delete
    4. It was okay, not great. There were no bins under the tables if they're restocking, they'll have to bring in all new stock tomorrow since it was cleaned out today. Also, posts on MadisonAveSpy say no restocking. I didn't ask while I was there but I didn't see back up stock like I often do.

      Delete
    5. Manolo never restocks. What's out is out. That's it.

  21. Hello Mizhattan: Could you please provide an update based on information from today's private sale? i.e. Is there limited stock and sizes? Is it mainly Summer merchandise? Type of shoes available (only sandals, only satin, or leathers and skins)? Are they restocking for tomorrow's public sale?
More information regarding this sample sale would be greatly appreciated by your readers...
    THANK YOU!

No restocking. Very limited inventory. Larger sizes only now.

  22. don't waste your time, I was there right before closing time and it was picked over badly. nothing there but really ugly old styles in large sizes. and no restocking, today was the only day-- racked says no sale for the public tomorrow. why bother!

    1. Hi Elena,

The public day doesn't have a fixed schedule. It all depends on how hectic it becomes and if any inventory is left.

  24. LINE UPDATE: As of 8:14, there are around 60 people waiting outside the Warwick Hotel. Yes, outside. Unlike previous years, shoppers aren't allowed to sit inside the event room. The sale is open to the public. Follow Mizhattan on Twitter for more line updates from inside.

  26. Miz I seriously appreciate all your sale updates. I work nearby and after reading your tweets ran over to the sale. Picked up a beauty for cheap. Thanks!

  27. The line outside was very manageable. Though the stock was very limited, I thought it was worth dropping by. I spotted many gorgeous sandals, flats, peep toes, and pumps. Prices started at $100. Unbelievable!

  28. My recap Miz...The folks (family by the time we got in) I was with,we all got on line about 5:50-6:10am and were they did not let anyone in until about 9am. So we were FREEZING. All under the impression, we would just wait upstairs as usual. They did give us hot chocolate so that helped some. The selection was lots of flats. Hardly any pumps and if they did, they were hoarded and you had to wait until they tried them on and put them back and then grab. Because the amount of people waiting was small and (majority of us were waiting 3 hours or longer) we looked out for each other and helped each other with finding sizes and styles (as there were MANY diamonds in the rough).. . I can deal with the new system but the cold was a lil much. Thank goodness on the third round of walking the floor I call it, I found a pair of booties so all was not lost and a pair for my boss.

  30. I bought a pair of open-toed satin shoes in fuchsia from this ss. They're size 6/36. I just realized they're a bit too small for me. I'd like to sell them at cost $125+tax. If interested, pls email me at mishellybb@gmail.com, and I can send you pictures of the shoes.

Miz - I hope it's ok to post this. If not, pls remove. As always, thanks for all the great info you provide on your blog!

  31. Is it worth it to go in after 2?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know why everyone is posting such discouraging comments! I went to the sample sale at around noon today expecting to find nothing... The tables for size 37 were overflowing, and if you have bigger feet, they have prettier styles. I bought a cute pair of formal pumps for 125 (136 with tax) and another pair of suede pumps for 150 (163 with tax). I stayed for around an hour because people would hog all the shoes and then put them back on the tables when they were making their final decisions. Also, I didn't have to wait on line. I can only imagine how amazing the selection must have been earlier in the morning!

    1. Do you think it is still worth it to go?

      Delete
    2. Sure... You won't expect any BB pumps though, just satiny formal shoes, summery sandals, some decent boots if your feet are really big/really small. Good luck!

      Delete
    3. I am a size 7...is that small enough?!?

      Delete
    4. So am I. They had a lot of stuff on the 37 table, but again it was mostly satiny slingbacks and sandals. I'm sure you'll find at least one pair worth buying for $100.

  33. Thank you for everything Mizhattan. I have lived in the city for all my life and I JUST FOUND YOUR SITE. I had a fantastic time at Manolo. Thanks again!

    1. Don't feel bad. I haven't shared Mizhattan with anyone. When friends and family ask where I got a bag, accessory, or whatever, I just say I was passing by or saw the info on a random website. hehehe

  34. I also got 2 nice pairs for $100@ and went a lil before 12 . No wait and not too busy inside either

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, there are more larger sizes, but it's still worth it. I hadn't been to this sale in 3 years and was so pleased to get one patent black pump and a lovely brown suede (with white trim) pump. Both $100. Ran around the corner to Leather Spa (who will adjust) and even though it will cost me another $80 or so, it's totally worth it. Some junk, but wait around for the drop offs. No line. Again, thank you Mizhattan. As someone said above you are the TRUTH.

  38. I want to thank Miz and everybody who put comments and updated us. I visited all sales and did not plan to go, but thanks to updates changed my mind and jumped into taxi. True, there was no line, but it is true as well that selection is very poor. I bought sandals foe my friend in size 35 $175 - this is the SAME model I bought there more than a year ago! Girls on floor stated that "it is all samples". Not at all - this is close out. Some pairs have been damaged and lokked like worn. Most of the shoes are way more expensive than $100. Maybe on VIP day there are a lot of pretty shoes... I do not say it is not worthy to go there, but only if you need few pairs. Makes no sense for one pair. By the way, don't you think that idea of VIP-day is strange?
