Parisian couture house Christian Dior's boutique sales are like an urban myth. You hear about it from time to time but can't quite put a finger on it as sales associates and the company's PR are tight-lipped on details. Well, thanks to a very informative fellow Mizhattanite (big smooch!) who tipped me off, I was able to get to the bottom of things and found out Dior, indeed, offers discounts on their seasonal merchandise.
I visited the Dior flagship on 57th Street yesterday and was happy to find the boutique in the midst of their seasonal markdowns. The sale was so discreet it was devoid of any sale signs or place cards directing you towards the discounted merchandise. After spending a few minutes ogling the goods on the main level, a sales associate escorted me to the sale section which was set up on the second floor of the boutique. In the process of browsing, the SA kindly told me shoes and RTW were marked down 40% and were on final sale (aka: no returns).
The shoes that were on sale were displayed on three glass shelves situated right next to the staircase. The selection wasn't exactly plentiful to say the least but included evening pumps, high heel sandals, peep-toe wedges, embellished satin flats, and lace-up booties. I was not able to get all the prices but here are a few: a pair of black double strap flat sandals were $462 (originally $770 & middle shelf of photo above), gold and silver multi-strap sandals were $522 (originally $870), black rose-embellished leather pumps were $540 (originally $900 & 1st photo below), and houndstooth kitten heels were $408 (originally $680 & 2nd photo below).
I did not have time to check out the apparel section but I was told select merchandise from the Spring '15 catalogue was 40% off the tag. If you can't find your size, the boutique will happily locate and ship it to you for a charge. Again, just remember all sales are final.
As much as I would like to think I'm a seasoned shopper, I often receive advice, insights, and tips unknown to me from many of my fellow Mizhattanites who kindly take their time to send me scoops so that I can share them with the community. Therefore, I would like to take a moment to say how much I appreciate each and every one of you who shared deets with me big or small. Thank you so much!
