Meet Dionysus: Gucci's New It Bag

Fall/Winter '15 marks a new chapter for Gucci. Newly appointed Creative Director Alessandro Michele picks up where Frida Giannini left off with his debut collection for the Italian luxury brand. And as it is de rigueur in the fashion world to introduce a fresh new handbag when a prominent label appoints a new head designer (or in Prada's case: to boost sales), Signor Michele has created the Dionysus. Name after the Greek mythological god, this new Gucci icon has a textured tiger head closure and a sliding chain strap which can be worn multiple ways--changing between a shoulder style and a top handle. For now, the Dionysus comes in several materials including exotic skins, hand-painted floral motif, embroidered bee or bird (as seen in their Fall '15 ads), suede, and GG logo canvas. Prices start at $2,100 and you can purchase them now at any Gucci boutique. The question is, will you?
