*SAMPLE SALE* Get Snatchy at Versace

This week's 3-day long Versace sample sale was supposed to be an invite-only affair but the Italian fashion house suddenly decided to open their doors to anyone in the know. And since the general public was now allowed to attend, I thought I would swing by and see how the sale was progressing. For bargain seekers and fans of the Medusa, the time is now to get snatchy at Versace.

Helmed by Donatella Versace, the brand has a very distinctive flair for design and caters to patrons who like things bold and flashy. Though I can't say the brand makes my list of favorite labels, the markdowns at today's sale were very much worth noting.

The company's NYC headquarters located at 3 Columbus Circle was converted into a bargain basement sales floor when I stopped by today. With can't-be-beat prices, womenswear, menswear, evening dresses, shoes, handbags, swimsuits, belts, and a very limited selection of small leather goods were available for shoppers. All of the sale inventory was from past seasons and included items from their main line as well as Versus, Versace Jeans, and Gianni. Versace's atelier couture dresses, if you can believe it, were $500 while fur and leather jackets were $200~$300. In addition, coats were $200, jackets were $100, dresses were $150, sweaters were $75, pants & jeans were $50, shirts & skirts were $50, and t-shirts were $20.

Shoes, bags, and accessories were also heavily reduced. All handbags were going for $200, shoes were $50~$100, swimsuits were $40, and underwear was $20. As nice as these prices were, the selection of shoes were too outlandish for my taste and many of the bags had scratches and pen marks on them.

As far as the men's offerings, the twenty or so racks held outerwear for $200, 2-piece suits for $250, sport coats for $150, jackets for $100, sweaters for $75, pants & jeans for $50, shirts for $50, and t-shirts for $20.

Tomorrow (October 28th) is the last day of the Versace sample sale and the hours are from 9am to 6pm. If you want to get snatchy and grab some deals, you have one more day to do so. As all sales are final, just remember to double check for wear and tear before you make a purchase as no price point is great enough to justify a damaged item.

  1. Everything is half off the price list! Having said that, I'm not particularly impressed with the selection. Even with the additional discount, I only managed to get a scarf from the sale. Most pieces are actual samples, meaning if you wear larger sizes, this sale is probably not for you.

  2. There's no more menswear, someone came and bought it all on the spot.

    1. Clearly reselling. Saw him too. Same guy who does the same at MCM and Tamara Mellon. He doesn't even look through the merchandise. He walked in and just said "Give me all of it." It's one thing if you go through it, pick select pieces, etc, but when you blatantly walk in and clear racks, so not cool to everyone else.

    2. They had a box of necklaces, undamaged from the warehouse. Jerk bought the entire box. No one got any.

  4. They should have a limit to how many items an individual can purchase to prevent resellers from crashing sample sales!

    1. I say make a complaint to corporate. When you walk in and just buy the floor, that's so unfair. The only joy we can get out of it was the dumb jerk didn't even bother to check the pieces, many of which were completely f'd up.

    1. No shoes at all. The above mentioned guy brought it all. A few broken and stained bags.

  8. Today was fun to watch. The guy really did buy every single men's item and all the shoes. Watching the workers tell person after person that, that half of the room was not for sale because someone brought it already was sad to watch.

  9. It sucks for us but I dont blame Versace, they wanted the stuff GONE. I dont think they cared how as long as it was fast. These sales are not good for brand image at these prices so its an easy off for them.
