*SAMPLE SALE* An UnsatisfacTory Burch Sale

Tory Burch's bi-annual sample sale got underway today in the Garment District. Per usual, the VIP portion ended earlier than originally planned and the sale organizers started letting in all of the designer's loyal fans and bargain hunters at 2pm. The last time I attended a Tory Burch event was one year minus a day ago and the discounts and inventory weren't too spectacular. So, I hoped it would be different this time around. Unfortunately, this was an unsatisfacTory Burch sale.

This week's Tory Burch sample sale has a healthy amount of the contemporary brand's past seasons' goods. With items in the apparel section organized by size (available from XS/0 to XL/12), shoppers were perusing the racks of discounted outerwear, t-shirts, sweaters, skirts, dresses, and pants. Prices stayed nearly the same when compared to December 2014. Tees & polos were still $45, blouses & tunics were still $95, sweaters were still $115, and bottoms were still $85. But this time around there was more variety. For example, the longer price list included sequin/beaded tops for $225, gowns for $450, and shearling jackets for $450.

As with any of the label's sales at Clothingline, handbags lined the wall nearest the checkout counter. With 20+ different designs of leather goods up for grabs, shoppers could eyeball what they wanted and then go to the register to pick up their choices. Highlights included Robinson floral perforated shoulder bags for $145, Robinson floral perforated mini double-zip totes for $250, 797 quilted satchels for $295, 797 quilted mini satchels for $245, Marion quilted mini buckets for $225, Robinson curved satchels for $245, Robinson bucket bags for $275, Robinson open dome satchels for $295, Robinson multi totes for $295, Robinson small multi totes for $245, Frances small satchels for $245, and Brody backpacks for $250.

Moving onto shoes, I found the assortment lacking. I spotted Simone over-the-knee boots, Thames wedge sandals, Sullivan boots, Grant suede slides, Clive quilted sneakers, Gunton hiking booties, Townsend loafers, Fairford pumps, and stacked bow peep toe wedges. As for prices, sneakers, ballet flats, and flat sandals were $125. In addition, loafers were $150, heels & wedges were $150, booties were $225, and boots were $300.

As I stated earlier, this week's Tory Burch sample sale is nowhere near satisfactory. If you are deeply yearning to pick up some of the designer's goods, I would strongly suggest waiting for additional markdowns to start. Extra reductions should kick in later in the week so make sure to look out for tweets or check back on this article for updates in the comment section.

  1. The woodbury outlet has better prices. Black Friday they even did an extra 40% off their outlet prices.

    1. Hi El R,

I agree. Better deals can be found elsewhere. Another disappointment.

  3. Thanks for your report Miz! Clothingline Tory Burch sales have been awful for a long time, I don't even bother until the first round of markdowns. Even then it's not necessarily worth it. I've bought Tory dresses for $40-$60 at the Rack and C21 during the big sales and like the other poster said, the outlets are cheaper. Really don't get why people stand in line for hours for this sale.

    1. Hi Nara,

Completely agree. With all the other fall sample sales we've had, money is definitely better spent elsewhere. Thank you for reading!
