It's Monday and it's freezing. Anyone need a little pick-me-up from the cold winter blues? Well, if you love to bargain shop, I'm happy to report there is a Theory and Helmut Lang sample sale currently happening in the Garment District. The go-to brand for smart, clean tailored workweek essentials, Theory, joins its sister brand Helmut Lang to host a 4-day long bargain event which got underway at 11am this morning. But despite today's flurry-filled weather, the sale actually got off to a pretty busy start with a large contingent of shoppers shivering and waiting in the cold.
The second floor of Clothingline, the host of this week's Theory and Helmut Lang sample sale, was buzzing with bargain seekers this morning. Racks upon racks of discounted apparel from both minimalistic labels filled the space and the inventory was organized by category.
Starting with Helmut Lang (placed in the front of the venue), the merchandise was comprised of dresses, sweaters, tanks, tees, skirts, pants, and a small selection of outerwear. Overall, the HL goods focused heavily towards warm weather styles than winter gear. Markdowns were reasonable. The price list included tops for $50, skirts for $50, pants for $55, dresses for $70, jackets for $90, and coats for $155.
Theory's merchandise (place in the back of the venue) was divided into menswear and womenswear. Here I spotted tons of office basics and cozy winter staples to go around for both genders. From chunky sweaters to knit dresses and tailored blazers to button-down shirts, I came across many winter-appropriate wardrobe essentials for dressing up or down. In the womenswear section, there were sixteen circular racks and countless double-level racks of clothes. In the menswear section, pants were placed on seven circular racks while outerwear and tops were organized on wall-mounted racks and color-arranged as best as possible. As for samples and irregulars, I found them scattered amongst the production overstock rather than grouped into a designated area.
Pricing for Theory's merchandise was exactly the same as Helmut Lang's. For women, tops were $50, skirts were $50, pants were $55, dresses were $70, blazers were $90, and coats were $155. As for men, tops were $50, trousers were $55, blazers were $100, and coats were $155.
As easy as it is to find steals at this week's Theory and Helmut Lang sample sale, you should also be on the lookout for damaged items. I highly suggest you inspect your picks thoroughly before you make a purchase as all sales are final. In addition, there is a high possibility for price reductions near the end of this event so check back on the comment section of this article for any updates.
