*SAMPLE SALE* Manolo Blahnik

It's that time again! Gather around folks because the Manolo Blahnik sample sale is back! For spring 2016, the British footwear brand will open its doors to NYC bargain shoppers tomorrow at their usual spot: Warwick Hotel. If this is your first time attending, you can expect prices to be as low as $125 for basic styles. But, as is the Manolo way, to score big, it will require a little bit of luck and lots of effort as the sale draws big crowds and aggressive hoarders. Also, don't forget to hit the ATM before you get there as the sale is always cash-only. For more info, you can read the full Mizhattan reports from their past two sales: May '15 & Nov. '15.

Where: Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. (near 6th Ave.), 2nd Floor

When: Wednesday, April 27th. Opens at 11am to public.

UPDATE: Price list & photos from inside: here, here, here, and here

  3. Hi Miz! Thank you for posting this. When do you think doors will close?

    1. That's really hard to say as it depends on how fast everything sells out. In the past, it was usually 4~5ish but Manolo doesn't set a closing time.

    2. I have checked with the staff there. It opens till 4pm.

    3. They closed early this time around. I got a number at 11 but didn't make it back until 3 and the door was closed. I asked if they were still open and a very kind woman said there wasn't much left except for the larger sizes, but I could try my luck. ALL the tables were completely empty except for 39-42. There were lots of shoes in 41, 41.5 and 42. As soon as I got inside they announced the sale was closing at 3:30. I think it was actually closer to 3:45. Great sale.

It appears that Someone stole a pair of shoes because one of the workers held up a pair of shoes asking if anyone misplaced their shoes. Someone said that person had left. That's pretty darned ballsy.

  4. Is it worth it to go right at 11 if that's the earliest or not worth it since things will be picked over? size 35.5 and 36

    1. Hi rational narcissist,

Try arriving a little earlier. The Manolo sample sale hands out numbered tickets so you can pick one up and come back later if you want. Smaller sizes (35-36) and larger sizes (40-42) fare well. It's the middle of the pack sizes that get picked over quickly.

  5. Hi Miz! Thanks so much for the intel on the sale! I'm a Manolo sample sale newbie and was wondering if you could clarify for me a little about about how it works.

Can I plan on getting a ticket sometime before 11AM and then showing up any time after 11AM to get into the actual sale? For example, if I got a numbered ticket that said, 4 (for example), and I didn't show up until after group 4 was already called. Could I still get enter the showroom? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi HH,

Yes, you are correct! Tickets are handed out by staff in the morning and shoppers can choose to stay at the hotel or go elsewhere and come back later. If you come back after your ticket is called, just go straight to the door and present the ticket. The Manolo staff are very friendly and I have never seen someone turned away because they came back after their ticket group was called.

But! Since there isn't a purchase limit, there is always a lot of hoarding. Therefore, I would strongly suggest making it back as quick as possible. Good luck!

  11. Quick question for old hands at the Manolo sale... How quickly do they usually move through the groups? If you have a ticket for group 3 or 4, can you expect to enter at 11AM when it opens to the public? Thanks in advance!

  16. Vips are all inside now and manolo employees are handing out public ticket 15. Overheard group 1 will go in at 11... group 15 will be 2 hours later.

  17. First group in public just went in. Right at 11 like someone mentioned earlier. They called for group 1,2 and 3 I think ticket numbers are up to 25 right now.

  18. have they called for more groups to enter the sale?

  19. 11:20 and they are calling #7 tickets. About 5 minute interval between calls. They are handing out #26.

  22. Protip: Don't go if you are size 37 - totally wiped out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is there anything left in size 39?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Stock is much more plentiful in the larger sizes. There was still a decent selection of 39s and up when I was there around 11:45. 36, 37, and 38s were pretty much picked over. Saw a number of resellers there but no one was being overly aggressive when I was there...probably because it was such slim pickings.

    2. There was definitely hoarding though! Staff did a weak job of trying to tell people they can't just hold shoes for forever but no real enforcement of that...

      Delete
  24. They called number 9 about 10 minutes ago. People are already complaining about some shoppers grabbing bins of shoes and not letting anybody to touch them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Staff said if people had money, there was no reason for them to stop them from buying... They must have hoarded at least 200 pairs of shoes...

  25. The Staff just announced that there is basically nothing left in sizes between 36-38 :(

I arrived before 7:15am,and there was a list out to put your name on. I added my name and went to grab breakfast. Gone for about 15 min, to arrive to them giving out tickets. Pink for VIP and Orange for Public. I walked in the waiting room, grabbed the list and asked to everyone on the line, "So is this null and void!?" Majority of people did not respond, some said we certainly should honor the list but some recognized my face and let me skip them. I received my Group 1 ticket and waited. I did check with the ladies at the desk to see if we would be let in earlier due to them going through the VIP list pretty quickly. At 11, we were in.Sooooooo, there were hoarders. Not a lot but enough to the point of you wanting to give them the death ray with your eyes. If you do not have a ticket and you are a size 37 and looking for BB's, do not bother. It was sliiiiiiiim pickens for the 37 & 37.5 pile when I left.Even the 38's! The smaller and larger sizes, were stocked but they had groups up until 17 last I heard so that pile might be slim as well. I anticipate an early day of them closing down. I had 3 pairs in my hands but fell in love with one. A pair of chocolate suede fringe BB's and that was by pure luck and asking! Was it worth it.. Always! It's like the lotto, "you never know!!"

  27. I was group 5, entered at 11:15. There was almost nothing left in sizes 36-38. Good selection for sizes 39 and up. They stopped giving out numbers for the day after about group number 27 at 12:30ish

  30. I wish they would do something about the hoarders/resellers. Sigh other than that the ladies today were so pleasant. There was a sweet lady who passed me whatever she wasn't taking during her final selection once she realized we wore the same size. She even took the time to point out the imperfections in the shoes to me.

  31. When I arrived at 11:30 I was given a ticket for the 34 group. As I was at the desk they announced group 8 to go in. I was told the wait would be 2.5 hours. I spent the time at the LK BENNET sale and MOMA and for the Degas exhibit.

  32. There were purses at the sale. Didn't know until I saw the price list at the cash register. I honestly had no idea MB made purses and handbags.

    1. They started the purse line a few seasons ago (probably one year?). I did not see that today. Just outta curiosity, where were they???

      Delete
    2. When you exited the table was on your left. It was perpendicular to the the table where they put unmatched/mismatched shoes. They were in a large plastic bucket and you had to ask to see them. There wasn't a price sheet on the walls. I noticed the price list with photos as I was waiting for my change. I think there were 10-12 styles. The prices were "reasonable" because it apparently retailed for almost $3,000. The purse was cheaper than --or the same price as -- the crocodile slingbacks. They had a wonderful dark brown crocodile purse/clutch for less than $600. A woman asked if I was getting it and I handed it over. I only brought cash for two pairs and need to have money for jimmy choo next week and my favorite church sales.
