  7. Hi Miz! Do you know if Chicago boutique also hosts a sample sale?

    ReplyDelete

    1. If I'm not mistaken, here in the states, Hermès only hosts sales in LA, FL, and NY.

    2. Hey Miz do you know which boutique in NY do they host sales? Thanks in advance!

      Delete
    3. In NYC, the sale is not held at one of their boutiques. Rather, it is held at a third-party venue. For the last few years, it has been at Soiffer Haskin. Once in awhile, the Hermès boutique at Americana Manhasset in Long Island hosts a sale.

  11. The line sitters and offers of money are disgusting.ebay resellers and China resellers have destroyed sample sales
.if you can give 1000 to get in u can afford the Hermes store
    DISGUSTED

    1. Says the poster who chose to be anonymous. Line sitting is a service, like Task Rabbit, like a nanny, like Uber, like housekeeping. Are those "disgusting" too? I think not, when they help you save time, whether you're a busy mom, a mom-to-be, disabled, or otherwise unable to be in 2 places at once. In the future, consider posting with a valid identity so that anything you comment on will be taken seriously and not dismissed as a pathetic, entitled, pathetic rant. Some people truly need to think before they type. I swear LOL

      Delete
    2. But @ Robert - you are a line sitter. Hence, your comment. I get it, willing buyer/willing seller. That's your perspective.

      Delete
    3. Everyone is entitled their own opinion, but for my profession to be called "disgusting" is wholly unnecessary and offensive. Thankfully we have tons of clients (with YELP reviews to prove it) who feel other otherwise. In hindsight, I shouldn't have even given this any attention, let alone devoted keystrokes. #lessonlearned

    4. so should we have to submit our tax returns to be able to get into a sample sale in the first place? Please. Robert provides a service. If you don't like it, don't use it.

    5. I don't know if that's the same anonymous person posting in response but I don't see any reason why he/she shouldn't be taken seriously just because they are anonymous and don't like the idea of your service. It wasn't pathetic or entitled, or even a rant, maybe just not typed the best.

I personally think of the line sitters as "cheating" at sample sales (though I must commend you guys for enforcing the 1-1 policy as before that it was infuriating). That's my personal opinion and I am entitled to it. It's like when you play solitaire using 1 card draws instead of 3. Did you win? Sure. Is it the same as winning if you did the 3 card draws? No. I'm not going to get mad when someone else uses a line sitter because that's their money and if that's what they choose to spend it on then so be it. I do agree with the original poster regarding the spending however. I would rather take that money and spend it at the regular store than hand it over to someone else, but again that’s just my opinion.

You should also take into consideration that their post was two separate thoughts. One about your business and one about sample sales in general. I went to Dolce & Gabbana last week and watched a group of about 4 come out of the sale with enough bags that their entire trunk (SUV) and backseat were filled. I went to Manolo Blahnik and watched a duo fill up a huge clear plastic bag with whatever shoes they could get their hands on. Clearly they're reselling and it's unfair to everyone else there who just wants to pick up a few things for themselves or maybe gifts for loved ones.

    6. 100% agree. Line sitters are one of the worst things (along with bulk resellers) that have happened to sample sales. Posts advertising line sitting services should be removed. This forum isn't the place for advertising. 2) Sales should not allow folks to swap out line sitters for shoppers. True fashion fans are being pushed aside and it's unfortunate. We all have a right to find the business unsavory.

    7. Personally I think line sitting is a wonderful idea. I got Robert's card in Hermes sale line in 2014, but didn't use it yet. But, I will be sure to call him if I need. Bulk buyers is different, it would be better if they enforce smth against it.

  16. No bracelets. Very little scarves from what I heard.

  17. Just came back from the VIP sale. No Jewelry whatsoever. Everything is 50% off instead of the 60% off last year. Overall a disappointing sale compared to last year. Lots of Cashmere Shawls at $550. Shoes selection is pretty underwhelming as well. Decent Mens scarves and lots of ties at $90.

  18. Hi Emma, yes. Tons of Maxi Twilly at $162.5. And regular twillys for $90. But I think Woody Allen's wife seems to buying up all the regular twillys...

  20. Hi Ladies, No Perfumes. There are some Hermes branded soaps/stain remover all the way in the back next to the swimsuits and hats.

Emma, I am not too impressed with the regular scarf selection, but they do have a full row of cashmere shawls (at $550 each) that I didn't see last year.

  22. Any bracelets or scarves?

  23. Hi MIZ and ladies, you are very welcome!

Fatine E, there are NO home goods or baby items at this sale, unfortunately.

  24. Just got back from the sale. For women, this is the most disappointing sale compared to the last few years. No bracelets, no china, no fragrances, no belts. There are a decent selection of scarves, but they will sell out of most today and its not worth waitin on line for the left overs tomorrow. The mens RTW stuff is either ugly or very expensive. There is a pretty decent selection of ties for $90. Everyone was picking up the iconic ones and I do not think the popular ones will last. There were lots of random shoes in random sizes.

  26. Gosh. Sounds like tomorrow's sale isn't worth it at all :/ last question please: any cuff links for men? Thanks a lot!

  27. As one of those people that spent 9 hours of their life for this sale, it saddens me to say that it was a complete waste of time. There was no jewelry at all, unless you consider a scarf ring jewelry ($150). The scarves in my opinion are really expensive, start at 90 for twilly-550 and maximum 7 per person. Shoes are $900 sweater $1000. I would not waste your time on this

  28. I visited the first day of the public sale, and the reports from the VIP day are accurate. No jewelry, no children's items, no fragrances. I was in one of the first groups in today, and it quickly became a frenzy, at least in the women's scarf section (there was a lot of elbowing). As I was leaving (shortly after 10am), the bouncers were already telling people that tried to enter the building (without seeing the line) that anyone who joined the line at that point would likely not get into the sale today. In terms of popular items, I think the cashmere scarves (women's & men's) will be long gone before the end of the day, and the silk scarves (women's and men's) are already out of the more desirable styles. There's plenty of ready to wear, and shoes, and there are some gorgeous riding boots, and everything appears to be a flat 50% off of retail.

  29. I went there at 8:00am, got in around 9:30am. There are actually a lot of nice 90cm scarves and cashmere shawls. By the time I left (noonish), all the nicer designs are pretty much sold out. There are still a lot of ties left tho...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I went at 5pm got in by 6. Left with 3 scarfs and a mini bandana type. They did restock this afternoon and there were plenty of scarves to go around! Def worth stopping by tomorrow if you want a scarf. They closed the line at 6:15 tonight.
