Former ballerina Filipa Júlio founded Josefinas in 2013, and since then, the brand has grown to create an exquisite collection of ballet flats and sneakers that are handmade in Portugal. The label was named after Júlio's grandmother who took her to ballet class when she was a little girl and nurtured Filipa with a life full of special adventures. This summer, Josefinas opened its NYC flagship at 252 Elizabeth Street, and tapped Christian Lahoude (an architect who designed stores for Gucci, Tiffany's, and Jimmy Choo) to decorate the space. Earlier this week, I was given a tour of this new Nolita boutique, and while taking a look at the beautiful shoes, I took some photos of their cozy space and decided to share them for this week's SWS.
