Thank you and Farewell...

After much thought and consideration, I have decided to write this farewell letter. Whether you recently discovered this website or have been following since the beginning, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for making this humble site a part of your daily read. What started out as a hobby on a whim because of my love for fashion and shopping turned into a great joy, passion, and labor of love for me. Without a doubt, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. To keep our memories alive (oh, what fun we had!) and in case of any future possibilities, I will keep Mizhattan online indefinitely and my inbox will always be open to all of you.

Thank you so very much for sharing in seven of the most incredible years of my life. I will miss you dearly.

    This is awful. I read you EVERY DAY. Even when I'm not interested in the story. To the person who feels like Steve Jobs died all over again, I agree. Is it burnout? Twitter and Instagram at least? Nobody has ever covered sample sales and style better than you. Nobody.

    After Racked shut down their NY section I moved to reading here much more often.

    OMG this is not good! Miz pleeeease reconsider. You are the best sample sale blogger out there. I visit others and they pale in comparison because they either do not put up much content as you or post glaringly inaccurate sale infos. You are always the one to break news on all the good sales and are soooo indispensable to us. And for sure no one has such great communication with readers as you do. You are always quick and thorough when replying to our questions. Pleeese reconsider.

    To me you will always be amazing. I cannot comprehend how you did all this... Going to sample sales in all kinds of weather, taking countless photos, writing an essay on each one, posting on social media, and then taking the time to answer questions and provide sale and line updates. Just wow.

    Most of all I will miss your smart titles. They always made me chuckle and it is a wonder how you came up with all of them. Thank you Miz for allowing me to live vicariously through you when I could not make it to a sale. Thank you for the times I did go because your advice helped me save so much. Take care - M

      I agree. She means well & I read her blog daily, but Sally usually posts reviews after the sale is well under way - sometimes when it's practically over (& picked over). We need a blog that reviews in a timely fashion - the way racked used to do line updates and updates from within the sale on the first day !
      We especially could use a healthy comments section where readers can give each other their tips and updates in real time.
      Somebody quick set that up (please !!) Speaking for myself - I'd be willing to even pay a small fee for such a site.

      Until then, we have to make do with the only places left that list sample sales (I like thestylishcity. com & chicmi.com ). If anybody knows of any other place that lists NY sample sales - please share with us !!!

      Lazar Media but that is weak too. Susan Lazar was the standard bearer nearly 30 years ago, but now she just lists because she moved out of NY. Madison Avenue Spy is weak now too. I didn't even know who Mizhattan was. I miss her so. Chicmi is pretty good, but I don't think anyone will do line updates anymore. After Miz's announcement I wrote to Racked (now owned by Vox) and told them that instead of doing these long form articles, they should get back to what drove traffic - i.e., sale updates and line updates. Heard nothing.

    she had connections to some really secret sales. I am guessing some one sued her for posting and that is why she left. this is probably why she is also not responding and still keeping this blog open. This is just a guess not really sure.

    Anyone know about the Diptyque Sample Sale?

    If any of you care to dig and trek, the Macy's in Douglaston (in the Fairway shopping center) is closing and having a liquidation sale. If you dig and look carefully, they have a nice selection of Michael Aram platters, Christofle flatware (yes, Christofle), lots of great porcelain china tea sets and plates you would normally see in the wedding registry section, and some Bobbi Brown and MAC cosmetics (not a lot) and plenty of children's clothes at a significant discount. They are even selling the fixtures - supposedly a Lowes is coming in to the spot.

    There are lots of fragrances and most of the discount for that is sadly on 30% off but there is a lot of fine and costume jewelry at a discount. Sorry no photos, but if you're in the area or can get there it's worth checking out.

    There is luggage on sale (mostly large suitcases) and home stuff like Cuisinart food processors and Nespresso's and various pots and pans etc. The Nespresso was still expensive "on sale" at around $268 (not sure how much it normally goes for).

    Many Men's Dept. items like dress shoes and suits and clothes and lots of women's UnderArmour workout wear. Still lots of Holiday items on sale.

    I am so sorry to have missed your farewell. I have been so overwhelmed with life: Both my parents passed away, my beautiful daughter got married (which I have not even blogged about yet), and I started a new job. I will miss you greatly. You were my window to NY fashion. Thank you for "Weekend Update," and "Deal at Five," and your professional way of showing fashion. Up until now I thought you were a high fashion industry blog.     The work she did was amazing. Personally, I think Mizhattan should of charged a fee for her services. She should of been getting paid for all her hard work. I for one would definitely pay if she would return.

    That is a great idea. I still come here from time to time hoping for a miraculous return by Miz. You know, like a "Surprise! I'm back!" kinda deal. It has been 8 months now and I still have not found a good enough replacement for her. The spring and summer sample sales are mostly whatever but soon it will be fall and then the holiday shopping will return and I don't know how I will fare without her. We should really put our heads together and come up with a proposal and see if she would be interested.
