The ambiance at the Tibi sample sale was that of a party. With loud dance music in the background, I was in a room full of hip and trendy ladies who were looking for great bargains. In fact, there seemed to be a few ladies from the Nanette Lepore sample sale earlier, who trekked the few blocks west to this event. It must be a day for sale hopping!
If you are looking for a cute party dress, Tibi had it. From colorful strapless dresses to glittery sequin mini skirts, there was enough to make a girl go "ga–ga" (ironically, the music they were playing was of the artist with the same name). I did find a few pieces with pen marks here and there but overall, the quality of these cute items were above par. There were a little more than 15 racks that filled the space and mirrors were at a premium. Just like the last Tibi sample sale, waiting for a fitting room required a lot of patience. Prices varied depending on the item. A tweed metallic mini skirt (4th photo below) was $80, Flavia skirt (7th photo below) was $50, a leather pailette mini skirt (2nd photo below) was $256, a belted pattern dress (6th photo below) was $80, a beaded strapless dress in pomegranate (photo above) was $112, a crepe seamed coat (5th photo below) was $156.
There were a few well-worn sample Guess by Marciano black pumps and strappy sandals by the entrance that were priced $10 per pair. I'd suggest skipping those. In addition to party dresses, there were also very conservative pieces--plaid blazers in gray and sweater coats--that would be great for this late autumn weather. This sale runs through Thursday, November 11th, so if hip and modern RTW is your thing...check Tibi out on the Westside.
