After the crazy Barneys Warehouse sale, I made my way down to Union Sq. where DSW was supposedly offering great deals on designer shoes.
First and foremost, the DSW sale had a completely different atmosphere than the Barneys sale. If Barneys was the yin; this was the yang. There were no aggressive sale hunters trying to snatch up pairs of shoes. No hoarders...
In fact, it was too quiet. You can say it was a shopping doldrum... It seems that the advertised luxury blowout sale event didn't quite meet the expectations of spoiled bargain hunters.
Here are some Gucci prices: Signature Borsa Crystal tote ($599.95), Borsa Colbert handbag ($439.95), throws ($399.95), booties ($399.95), peep toe pumps ($249.95), ballet flats ($199.95), patent pumps ($249.95), and wedge sandals ($249.95). Gucci items outnumbered the other brands 20:1.
A very very few Sergio Rossis and Bottegas sat on racks (it was impossible to find Marc by Marc Jacobs). Here are some prices for Sergio Rossi: leather pumps ($199.95), platform pumps ($199.95), and patent pumps ($199.95). Bottega Veneta plaid & patent pumps ($199.95), and patent flats ($199.95).
There were enough sizes to go around and for the first time today, I was able to have a seat in front of a mirror while trying on different shoes without any commotion around me.
