*SAMPLE SALE* YSL Musings

There's so much to tell you about how today's VIP portion of the Yves Saint Laurent sample sale went, but to put it in a sentence, I was in YSL heaven!! Ahh~mazing discounts, great merchandise, and some fashion celebrity sightings are just a few things to mention. So, let's start the show!

The VIP opening was held earlier today and I was primed and ready for some serious discount shopping on many of YSL's covetable pieces. Everything from the house's famed handbags like Muse Two & Easy to chic accessories at unbelievable prices were up for grabs. The only downside of today's sale was that many shoppers, including some serious fashion insiders, were hoarding at major league level. Though, when prices were as low as $700 for a black patent leather Muse Two (1st photo below) and Y–mail wallets for $50 only, who can blame them?

Like many attendees, my YSL search began at the giant handbag tables located in the center of the room. Prices for handbags were determined by the colored ribbon attached to each bag. Yellow ribbons were $300, greens were $400, blues were $500, purples were $600, and reds were $700. Other than those Muse Two bags I mentioned earlier, I spotted lots of Downtowns in various sizes & colors. Some in either black or white were priced $700. I also saw some lucky ladies grabbing a few Easys in white and in black nylon. The Y–mail metallic totes were $500 (2nd photo below).

Next, I headed to the accessory section located by the cash registers. This area was, without a doubt, the most popular section. Everything here was so affordable that my inner frugalista was beaming with joy. Sunglasses, for example, were $100 a pair. On top of this they were also offering a free pair when you buy two. Necklaces were $100, bracelets were $75, earrings were $50, and rings were $75. Over at the small leather goods table, wallets were $50!! Well dressed, civilized ladies were going bonkers over these wallets, saying that they were a steal. And I have to agree with them because they are currently selling online for $395. Cosmetic cases in various jewel tones were also $50. The same design in black is currently selling for $395 online. After grabbing a few for myself, I headed over to the shoe racks. I almost fainted when I saw the Tribute sandals listed on their price list, but unfortunately, they were nowhere to be seen in my size. Perhaps a lucky lady went home with those beauties before I could snag them? Anyways, back to shoes. They were organized in different size and sandals were the most abundant. Flats were $100, pumps, wedges, and platforms were $200. Like I said, Tribute sandals & Trib Too pumps that were listed at $350 for those lucky enough to find them. Furthermore, there was a small selection of boots. They were priced $500 per pair.

The Ready-to-Wear section was impressive but not many people were browsing compared to the handbag, shoe, and accessory sections. Ranging from Stefano Pilati's evening gowns to his pieces with impeccable detailing & classic cuts, there were enough beautiful clothes to make any fashionistas drool. Jackets were $350, pants were $150, skirts were $150, dresses were $350, and coats were $550. Per usual, a full price list can be found at the end of this article.

So to wrap up, I'll warn my fellow Mizhattanites that there was hoarding, especially in the small leather goods section. But good news is that they say they will replenish tomorrow (yay!). Lastly, seeing fashion celebrities like Joe Zee, Nina Garcia, and Linda Wells was almost as sweet as the amazing discounts. I know the fall sample sale season just started, but today's Yves Saint Laurent sample sale was the best one I've been to this year (knock on wood!).

  2. Went there today at 5pm, waited for 2 hours. They cut the line and did not let anyone in at 7pm. Disappointed. They should have tell people right away when they stand on line not after such a long wait!!! Thanks Mizhattan for sharing the preview.

  5. Hi Mizz, thanks for the great photos and reporting! I tried to go today at 5 pm as well and was unable to get in. When do you think is the best time to go on Thurs and Fri? Thank you!

  6. I believe that orange mini Muse in croc was $700. When I left, there were only a few Easys, but as I wrote in this article they should be restocking.

  7. Getting there early tomorrow morning (like 2hrs before opening) would be your best bet. If not, I'd take my chances late Friday (but the merchandise might be limited). Happy Shopping!!

  10. Well today, the line wrapped around 18th St, down 6th Ave and ended up on 19th St. So I'm sure many people who didn't get in today will try again early tomorrow. I've seen people wait in line much earlier than that. When there's a deal to be had people will endure almost anything.

Thank you for your compliment! ^^

  12. I got there today at 6:30am and there were about 100 people in front of me. People are FIGHTING over bags and the scene was getting really rough when they brought out new stuff. Scary! No tributes in any size but they marked everything down. Clothes were 50% off, heels all $100 and all men's stuff was $50.

  18. Ridiculous line cutting going on -- girls who think they can join their friend at 7:40am!

Doors aren't open yet at 8.

  19. What's the update ladies? Is it worth going today? Love ya Miz....don't know what I would do without you giving me the scoop on all the sample sales!!!!

  20. They are supposedly done with restocking. If you weren't in the initial rounds to go in, I don't think it is that worth it. That said, satin sandals are now $50. If you are a 41, there are more styles available. Bags aren't reduced yet -- nothing exciting left.

  21. Anyone could tell me anything about the boots?
    Are there any boots left?

  22. Just hearing word that YSL has slashed prices in half.

  23. Is there a long line, are there any bags left?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi - anyone know if they plan on extending hours?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I stopped by around 12:30 because I accidentally grabbed a pair of shoes with two right feet. No price cuts since yesterday, aside from satin sandals getting marked down to $50 too. Line was still past West Elm. No sunglasses/wallets left. Bags left are postcard, white ruffled tiered, and leather w/ wooden handle. Not really worth going imho.

  26. I don't think they are extending hours. The sale was a hit, so a lot of merchandise has been wiped out.

  27. I stopped in around noon today as well. Pretty much nothing left; not worth going anymore.
