*SAMPLE SALE* Stepping into Steffe

What is it about Cynthia Steffe sample sales that drive women wild? I've found that their events are notorious for promoting an utterly chaotic shopping scene. So, after steeling my heart and mind, I headed out to see how this year's sale would fare. When I arrived, I saw 40+ ladies braving the soggy weather to do some discount shopping. The venue is located inside an empty (and very dirty) commercial space on 39th St. between 8th & 9th Ave. So, here's what I found when I stepped into Steffe.

It's been quite some time since I visited a sample sale hosted by this "girly-with-a-bit-of-downtown-edge" label. I remember feeling overwhelmed & quite beside myself when I first attended a sale a couple of years ago. So, when this year's event was announced, I knew I had to prepare myself for the infamous Steffe tsunami.

Inside, countless racks held items from past collections--ranging from floral summer frocks to colorful tops & breezy skirts. With tons of items strewn all over the place, shoppers did their best to snatch up $25-per-item clothes. I found that sizes leaned towards the x-small to medium range (0-6). As for pricing, coats & leather jackets were $50. Dresses, tops, skirts, jackets, and shorts were a bargain at $25 each (full price list at the end). There were deep markdowns on shoes as well. A pair could be had for only $20. Shocker: I found a heap of Manolo Blahniks (13th photo below), but they all had definite signs of wear. However, that didn't stop one lady from grabbing almost all the Manolos on her way to the checkout counter. Speaking of lucky finds, I also spotted pieces from high-end labels like Zac Posen hiding inside one of the racks. A Zac Posen blouse for $25? Don't mind if I do!

Please note that there are no fitting rooms or mirrors available to shoppers. So, I suggest bringing a friend and wearing some leggings if you decide to stop by. Also, I was told by an employee that they will not be replenishing. So, whatever is left...is it. But do some digging and I'm sure you'll find a gem. I mean, with most items $25 and under, they're practically giving the clothes away!

Price list:
Dresses $25
Jumpsuits/Rompers $25

All bottoms $25
All leather $50
Winter coats & trench coats $50

  2. Yup- a friend and I left today with 3 dresses, a skirt, and 2 shirts for a whopping total of $30. Had I known beforehand that the prices had dropped so low, I would have grabbed more

  4. I went first thing yesterday morning. There were maybe 20 ladies waiting. The staff there were constantly taking more samples out of boxes and hanging them up. I ended up leaving with a huge bag of clothes and only spent $85!
