*SAMPLE SALE* A Woman's Right to Choos

Jimmy Choo turns 20 this year. So, to celebrate two decades in the business, the British shoe empire has a few major projects planned for their fans across the pond. One of them is the company's new SoHo boutique which debuted just last month. Next, comes the unveiling of another high profile location at 699 Madison Ave this spring. The brand also has more store openings in the works throughout the country which include San Francisco and Chicago. All these announcements sound very exciting, but for me, nothing says let's celebrate 20 years of awesomeness like bringing home a bunch of discounted Choos. So, to wish the brand a very happy 20th and to get some lovely goodies for myself, I stopped by their spring sample sale which started today morning.

It was off to a soggy start today as the Jimmy Choo bi-annual NYC sample sale got underway at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This morning's non-stop rainfall made the whole experience of waiting in line cold and dreadfully unpleasant, which may be one of the reasons the sale did not draw as much of an early bird crowd as it usually does. Inside the 4th floor venue, you'll find the layout and pricing pretty much the same as their previous sales. The only thing I noticed that was different this time around was the amount of merchandise. As I originally hoped, with the event now a day longer, the sale offered a vastly abundant selection of shoes in every size.

Speaking of sizes, women's footwear ranged from 34 through 43.5. The inventory included a wide assortment of different styles like Anouk pumps, Lance evening sandals, Portia wedge sandals, Romy pumps, Gala flats, Lottie sandals, Tilly slingbacks, Lilyth bow sandals, Elaine strappy sandals, Evelyn peep-toe pumps, plus a few bridal pumps. Markdowns didn't change at all from their last sale in October '15. Basic heels and flats were $200, embellished shoes were $250, evening styles and booties were $325, and tall boots were $375.

Men's shoes, stacked on and below five tables, had sizes from 39 through 47. There were casual styles like sneakers and driving shoes as well as formal designs like loafers, oxfords, and smoking slippers. Men's offerings were marked down to $250 or $375 depending on the material and design.

In terms of accessories, there was a large table of totes and satchels ($350 & $450), two tables of clutches ($250 & $350), a table of scarves and belts ($50 & $75), and a table of small leather goods for $75 (wallets, phone cases, card holders, and leather coin trays).

Because of the rain, the line outside started building slow but it was surely growing by the time I came out just before 11am. The inventory was definitely more plentiful than ever and employees were continuously unloading boxes this morning. Therefore, if you don't want to brave today's wet weather, I suggest you drop by tomorrow or on Thursday when they will likely slash prices.

  3. How was the selection for sizes 35 and under? In your opinion, were the shoes in better condition than at the last sale (like 85% of the ones I saw at the last sale were dirty/worn)?

    1. There was a large table for 35 and 35.5. Shoes were about the same in terms of quality when compared to their October '15 sale.

  5. Thanks for another great write up, Miz! Are resellers are rampant at the Jimmy Choo sale as they are at the Manolo one?

  7. Do the invitations come on cardstock? Wouldn't the sale staff know that it's a printout?

  10. They actually close their doors way before 7pm. I got there at 6:44pm and they wouldn't let me in. Some BS about closing it so everyone finishes at 7pm. What's the point of listing the time for 7pm if it's not true? Such a waste of time.

No fault of yours, Miz. You're great as always!

  11. Any price reductions today?

  12. If they listed that the SALE ends at 7pm, then they close at 7pm. No BS about that. If you got there at 6:44pm, after waiting in line do you realistically think you'd be done by 7pm?

    2. At 2pm, there were still lots of women's shoes in each size but you have to be on the look out for damages/signs of wear. Handbags and belts were picked over. Scarves and SLGs were sold out.
