Rain or shine, hot or cold, I try my best to capture the most stunning and creative window displays the city has to offer. After all, NYC is one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world and all that hard work and sweat put into creating such beautiful artistic presentations really deserves as much attention as possible. If there were awards for best window displays, I think these boutiques and department stores have a pretty darn good chance of winning. As we start counting down to the new year, let's take a moment and look back at some of the most memorable sample sales we had this year. In 2015, there were many surprises. For the first time ever, luxury brands Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Salvatore Ferragamo, Rosie Assoulin, and Versace opened their private events to the public. There were many newcomers to the party as well. Mark Cross, Charlotte Olympia, Edie Parker, Aquazzura, The Kooples, and Maje all held their inaugural New York City sample sales this year. Finally, let's not forget the opening of the C21 Edition space. The discount department store unveiled their sample sale venue and became the host to designer brands like Diptyque, Ferragamo, and Proenza Schouler. The much awaited Furla sample sale finally got underway this morning at their corporate showroom in Midtown. The postponement of the brand's usual September sample sale was due in part to extra work involved in getting the company's Fifth Ave boutique open earlier this year. But thankfully, to reward last minute holiday shoppers for their procrastination, the label found the time to fit in a sample sale for bargain seekers to enjoy. So, welcome to Furla's discounted Candyland, folks!
Furla has been postponing their fall sample sale for so long I was about to give up all hope. Well, surprise surprise! The Italian leather goods maker has finally scheduled their bi-annual sale. The bargain event is open to the public today and tomorrow at the company's corporate showroom. I wasn't able to attend this year's spring sale but at last year's fall sample sale, Furla's signature bags like Candy totes, Stacy buckets, Piper top handles were discounted up to 80% off. Nicholas Knightly, the design director of leather goods at Louis Vuitton and the creator of Mulberry's iconic Bayswater, has recently launched his own handbag line and it is THE label to watch at the moment. Christened Mallet & Co., the brand currently offers three different styles: Zeus, Archie, and Hanbury. The bags are sold exclusively through Net-A-Porter and prices are between $1,475 and $2,438. I feel as though each handbag is as functional as it is understated. The black Zeus tote in the first photo, which also happens to be my favorite of the three, has an air of Birkin appeal to it. I can't wait to see more of Knightly's creations for this brand and grab one for my own.

The gold standard for holiday window displays has to be Bergdorf Goodman. For 2015, the luxury department store partnered with Swarovski to celebrate the world famous crystal manufacturer's 120th anniversary. The theme for this year's stunning production is: Brilliant. The 5 grand storefront windows are decked out in millions of shimmering Swarovski crystals and titled: Birthday Party, Treasure Chest, Crown Jewels, Crystal Cavern, and Crystal Ball. There are no words to describe the effort and craftsmanship the BG artistic team put into making these windows except for maybe...brilliant!

I have some very exciting sample sale news for my fellow Mizhattanites who are planning to attend a formal evening event. As the last month of the year, December culminates with plenty of holiday soirées and a New Year's Eve bash. And in that case, you'll need one or more eye-catching frocks to keep you in the spotlight. With that said, Alice and Olivia is here to your rescue with its frock-full sample sale. Yesterday evening, the brand held a soft opening for VIPs, press, and Gilt City ticket holders, and the venue (especially the sample racks) was buzzing with bargain-hungry mobs looking to score deals on this flirty fashion label's designs. Tory Burch's bi-annual sample sale got underway today in the Garment District. Per usual, the VIP portion ended earlier than originally planned and the sale organizers started letting in all of the designer's loyal fans and bargain hunters at 2pm. The last time I attended a Tory Burch event was one year minus a day ago and the discounts and inventory weren't too spectacular. So, I hoped it would be different this time around. Unfortunately, this was an unsatisfacTory Burch sale.

After making stops in Los Angeles and London, the Christian Louboutin sample sale returns to the Big Apple--albeit a month overdue. For fall 2015, Louboutin's exclusive event opens its doors to invited VIPs and F&F starting tomorrow in the Garment District. As it is fairly common knowledge by now, only a select lucky few ever get within the hallowed walls of this sale. In the past, sneaking into one of the brand's notoriously private sales wasn't too difficult a task but their door policy has gotten progressively stricter and therefore is now simply impossible for the general public to gain admittance without an invitation. New York City has yet to see the first snowflakes of the season but at Tiffany & Co., it's a pure winter wonderland. The American luxury jeweler continues their tradition of building astounding holiday displays (see: here & here). This year's windows bring to life whimsical wintry scenes inspired by 19th century miniature theaters. With a decorative arch framing each window, passersby can take a peak at a palace covered in snow and reindeers lounging about the grounds.
